garcon magnifique
The really scary thing is, before Subaru UK lopped SIX GRAND off the WRX STI list price to shift the last couple of hundred, it was actually more expensive than the M135i. cruiser647
Nice test, but people looking to buy one of those cars (probably) wouldn't look at the other car.
garcon magnifique
I think there are probably quite a few who would have considered an Impreza a number of years ago who would now be looking at the M135i. But the only people picking up the last WRX STIs in the country will be die hard enthusiasts.
Mac
I had an Impreza years ago - no way would I buy one now, but I am seriously considering the M135.
jimdiesel
The M135i lap time is interesting. 1:14.05 v 1:13.95 for the F13 M6 cab and 1:12.9 for the new SL63 revcently tested by AE round the same venue. I know the other two are hardly dedicated track machines, but they are serious bits of kit. Given the fact that the 1 series is a very supple road car, it seems to make a good effort on track. When EVO used Blyton Park for their Ecoty shoot out, they didnt use the chicane on the back straight, hence the difference in lap times. Oh and the deliberate mistake about the dual clutch box. It is the ZF 8spd fluid torque converter box.
garcon magnifique
Oh and the deliberate mistake about the dual clutch box. It is the ZF 8spd fluid torque converter box. I picked up on that and wondered if the DCT box was an option. Kinda worries me that a professional motoring journalist couldn't tell the difference. jimdiesel
To be fair, unless you knew, you could mistake it for a DCT box, the changes are that quick. Chris Harris nearly made the same error when filming his RS3 v M135i film for Drive.
