Andy_Bangle
have you got a wi-fi printer? with a tablet you defo need one. What size screen? 7" or 10" tablet is okay to use on the sofa but no good if the kids have to their homework or want to watch a movie - 15" laptop is better in that case. Have you a computer already? if so then get a tablet Are you an Apple man? budget? Some prices ... Google Nexus 7 32GB - £200 iPad mini - £280 Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - £450 15" windows 8 laptop - £260 upwards
Luke
Have an iPad and a laptop. Just need another basic one. Like the idea of the google one. Anyone got one? Can you print via a usb?
Andy_Bangle
Yes, but not easily. Better to print to -googles air printer app or email and print from the laptop or even better get a wifi adaptor for the printer.
cruiser647
I'd probably go down the Acer laptop route. How often are they going to print?
m4ttm4son
NetBook? How big a screen do you need to surf on?
Luke
Now and again with the print. The problem is the ipad for some reason wont load my wifes secure website (thomson flights). Only half of the info comes up. On the laptop it works ok but the laptop is slow and a bit ancient. I'd buy another tablet as that's all I need but need to print stuff easily. Andy_Bangle
The problem is the ipad for some reason wont load my wifes secure website (thomson flights). Only half of the info comes up. That's because the ipad dosen't support the secure protocol required by the website, have you tried chrome browser? My iPad doesn't support my secure website either. But I have no idea about printing via usb (probably would have to root it and supply the drivers).
Cuprabob
My BiL bought a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 from Argos just before Xmas for £238 and got £50 cashback. It's only 16GB but has a memory slot for expansion and it's actually quite good.

Andy_Bangle
Printing Bob? Luke, USB printing from a tablet ain't going to happen mate. To print you'll either need 1) a compatible wi-fi enabled printer (fr. £40), 2) a print server attached to your wireless network. (or Bluetooth or cloud printing). Tipex
Don't know if it helps, but my old printer wasn't WiFi, but I just plugged it into my router and hey presto, I could print from any of my other Wifi devices. I have since replaced it with a proper WiFi printer though, and it's a lot better.
shao_khan
Now and again with the print. The problem is the ipad for some reason wont load my wifes secure website (thomson flights). That could be their IT department, they're special I've got a netbook here, i'm not a fan of it, but if you're up this way you could borrow it see how it fits. I think tablet is better way forward - hence netbook sitting around!!
