Soulboy
I might get a new car soon, so may need to do a bit of catching up on here and in the news section to see what's available or due out soon. Probably be looking down the usual route (4wd hatch).....but may just go off piste. Or, may extend the warranty on the Golf till something jumps out at me. Cuprabob
According to Feb issue of Evo both the Golf R and Scirocco R are in the top 10 least depreciating cars of 2012.
garcon magnifique
New Merc A class? Have a feeling 4wd may be available, though maybe just in the AMG. BMW 1 series and some winter tyres? Subaru XV??
billy2shots
As garcon says The new merc A45. 2 litre turbo with 350 bhp and 4WD. Due in the next few months.
Soulboy
I have had my eye off the ball regards cars of late. But i am well aware of the A45 Merc, and am first on the list for orders when the spec is released.....whatever that means! Anyone any idea when it's due? Also interested in the new S3. Looks good, but not sure when that is due either. And seen good reports of the 1 series - but not up to speed on model or specs. Are there any decent models available with 4wd now? Any help appreciated. I am so out of touch not being on here.......boxing sort of took over my life last year.
Calm Chris
boxing sort of took over my life last year. Tell me more? I take it this was you doing a Freddie Flintoff, good ol Queensbury or some macho mix cage type stuff?

Rachel
Golf R's are still lovely though and rare. Really? They are as common as muck here, to the point I've seen more Rs in the last 2 months than GTIs. Soulboy :smileylove: definitely check out the new hotter A Class, the newish RS4 (might be a bit out of the price bracket) and dare I say it - the physics defying new Cayenne GTS... Tipex
See them fairly often around here, you do need a keen eye to spot them though, they are barely distinguishable from the poverty models.

Tipex
GTis? Anything that isn't an R really, the fast Golf's don't look anything special these days, which is a shame.
Ian_C
I agree. When the Mk5 GTi came out it had just enough styling cues and looked great (and was a fecking bargain at 19,800) but these days all cars seem to have huge wheels and bumpers and the actual GTi is tricky to spot
Cuprabob
I totally disagree, the GTI is,easy to spot, it's the one overtaking the Aston Martin. Seriously though, I agree, VW seem to have lost their way again just like the did in the MK3 / MK4 days. I'm a VAG fan and have only owned one non VAG car in 30 years of driving and even I can't think of a reason on why someone would buy over a m135i
Soulboy
Thanks for all the input so far everyone. I went to the dealers today. Audi, Merc, BMW. Waited for ages in Merc and Audi and walked out of both as there was a waiting list to even speak to a salesperson. The girl on reception said they are taking orders for the new S3 which is out in June, but had no literature or prices. The Merc dealers were just absolutely hopeless. BMW were much better, but it looks like my hopes of a 4wd performance model any time soon is a non starter. Potentially sorted out g/f next car though. 1 series Coupe M sport though, so not a complete waste of an afternoon. Merc had a sport model A class in and it looked very nice. I think the A45 AMG is looking promising. Edited January 27, 2013 by Soulboy
billy2shots
I have been looking forward to the A45 for the last year or so. The only thing that worries me a little is if the A45 is not any different visually to the other Sport/AMG line. They have a diesel but in AMG trim on the website and I hope there will be an obvious difference for the flagship model.

My brother went there recently to look at an ML and walked out on disgust at the lack of service.
Soulboy
I have now been informed by another Merc dealer who I visited today that the A45 AMG is going to be available in Aug/Sept this year. No spec available, but they have already got 3 deposits taken.
Cuprabob
Not fancy an RS3? There seems to be a few in the network and no doubt a good dealcan be had.

I have a vague recollection that you're north west based? If so, Mercedes Macclesfield has a decent reputation. I'd avoid Stockport. (I'd avoid Stockport in general to be honest, but specifically the Merc dealer... )
