Tonight's was :

Golf GTI vs Focus ST vs Megan Cup Vs Astra VXR

RS4 review

5 series Active Hybrid vs 535i

It's a car program bordering on entertainment rather than an entertainment program which has car stuff in like Top Gear.....and it's hidden away in the channel guide.

I think if you're actually interested in cars, rather than people arsing about in cars (as above), 5th Gear is actually quite good, I enjoy watching it and it's in HD now it's on Discovery!

If you want to actually know if a car is any good, it's your only option really.

I've watched the last couple of series on Discovery and was quite impressed to be honest. I was going to post on here but all you get is comments its crap but its better than much of the drivel that's on. I guess some of the guys on here are having to watch TOWIE or similar. ..shudders at the thought.

How did the Active Hybrid v 535i test go?

I quite enjoy it, moreso since they asked Mr Ford and his string bean muppet companion to exit stage right...

They drive cars we don't get here (eg. engine/drivetrain variants like a 2.0l diesel AWD Passat), and it's good to see someone like Plato, who can actually drive, giving an untarnished review like he did of Mr Pagani's latest and finest.

I watched last nights 5th Gear and really enjoyed it - the car features are actually about cars which is a nice change. Don't get me wrong I still really like Top Gear but I think 5th Gear in this latest incarnation has found its niche. Yes its on DiscoveryHD but the banter between Plato, Tiff and VBH is good and the features informative and entertaining - just means 2 to watch now instead of just TG +++

Engines have same BHP

Electric gives Hybrid 50bhp more

Additional weight means the same 0-60

It's not worth going for the Hybrid.

There are loads of nearly new post Olympic Hybrids scattered around the dealer network for £30k with all the toys, I'd consider one at that price.
