Andy_Bangle
Can you believe this is 20 years old! The McLaren F1 is 20-year-old exotic that was the most expensive production car in the world when it went on sale for £540,000.
Andrew
Love that, I remember vividly when they launched it. Andy - are you actually at Geneva?
Luke
What an investment though. Standard ones at about £1.3-1.5M.

Andy_Bangle
Andy - are you actually at Geneva? No. I often used to do press days and launches however, all the "leaks" and "spyshots" these days kind of make them less important. It used to be great turning up on press day to see a new M or porker being unveiled for the first time. Geneva is one of the best shows to attend as there's always lots of new launches plus it's easy to get too as the airport is next door to the convention centre (and cheap flights). Luke
I've been to the Geneva Motorshow a couple of times. From Luton to Geneva, lovely flight into the airport, centre next door and cheap as chips to get in. Well worth a visit. Got on the Ferrari stand too and pretended I was loaded (but bent!). Andy_Bangle
£634,500 actually ;( So what's £540,000 + (1995) VAT, think about it You never quote hypercar prices inc tax, that's plain vulgar
Mook
Worth £10M now the LM. Properly sound investment!

Andy_Bangle
The 10 million was Big Ron's considered opinion and tend believe considering there's only 5 others in World & the Sultan of Brunei owns 3 of them. The current record for an F1 is over £3.5 million, sold by Tom Harley Jr.
Ian_C
Chassis #16R, 1996 Le Mans 24 hours finisher, tested by Tiff Needell on Fifth Gear a few years back when with previous owner Chris Palmer.
bazza_g
The British owner from another forum of the Lark Racing F1 GTR (chassis #13R I think) ran it up the hill at Goodwood last year fresh from its rebuild - thank god he kept the original livery - its fooking immaculate It's still the best thing ever on wheels
Woppum
Worth £10M now the LM. Properly sound investment! You sure? I thought more like 3-4m.
Andy_Bangle
You sure? I thought more like 3-4m. £3-4m is for a road going F1, (GTR's are cheaper) there are several for sale around globe if you're interested Chassis '028R' was up for sale since 2008: Bonhams 1793 : The Ex-GTC Gulf Team Davidoff - the final example produced,1997 McLaren F1 GTR 'Longtail' FIA GT Endurance Racing Coupe Chassis no. 028R The car failed to sell in the auction and it was sold shortly after via a private transaction for $3.85M with fees last summer.
