Tipex
CLA is lovely, if I was in the market for a C63 AMG I would seriously be tempted to wait for the CLA AMG.
Andrew
Blimey, another model! Does look nice enough but how does it fit into the CLS, CL, C and E markets! The CLAAMG - sounds like a Nordic STI. A_B might know more.
Andy_Bangle
There's a few more pictures & vids in the CLA Thread
Andy_Bangle
Blimey, another model! Does look nice enough but how does it fit into the CLS, CL, C and E markets! It's based on the A-platform, so you have the hatchback (for the European market) and saloon (sedan, for the US market).
CarMad
How big is it though? The size of a 1 series I'd guess but the pictures make it look pretty big.
Tipex
I'd say bigger than a 1, think more along VW jetta in terms of where it goes in the line up, smaller than a C class, bigger than an A or B.
m4ttm4son
There's a 2 series coming soon isn't there? Like a big coupe 1er. Guess this would be the competition. Mini M3?
Andy_Bangle
How big is it though?. Despite costing less than the C-Class, at 182.3 inches (4,630mm) long, 80.0 inches wide (2,032mm / with mirrors) and 56.6 inches (1,438mm) tall, the CLA is actually 1.5 inches (38mm) longer. However, it rides on a shorter wheelbase of 106.3 inches (2,700mm) compared to the C-Class' 108.7 inches (2,761mm). There's a 2 series coming soon isn't there? Like a big coupe 1er. Guess this would be the competition. Mini M3? The BMW 2 Series is a Coupe (F22) and Convertible (F23), the CLA is 4-door and has very similar dimensions to the 3 series (F30). BMW will have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, series and 7 PLUS X1, X3, X4, X5 and X6 PLUS i3, i8 and i8 Spyder due 2013-14. Then in each of these series you have the niche products: ///M, M, Coupe, Cabriolet, GT, Grand Coupe etc. Audi will TT, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 and Q3, Q4 Q5, Q7, R4, R8 and Audi e-tron and the niches' RSQ3, SQ5, etc etc All looking identical of course Edited March 20, 2013 by Andy_Bangle
CarMad
Cheers, so its not small then is it, I can see that selling very well except for the silly sat nav screen that looks almost aftermarket to me.

Andy_Bangle
CLA45 AMG Vs. F80 M3. 2.0-litre four-pot turbo engine, four-wheel-drive 360bhp and 331lb ft of torque, 0-62 in 4.6sec Vs. twin-turbo 3.0-litre in-line six, (guessing: 414 hp, 0-62 mph time of 4.5 seconds) Which leaves the C63 AMG up against the F82 M4. m4ttm4son
I like it, but the arse is a bit too melty still. Needs some hill repeats to perk/ firm it up Will nick some M3 customers, for sure. New Cock-mobile?
Tipex
New Cock-mobile? Ha, I alluded to that in Mook's C63 thread, It probably wont be long until Clarkson declares AMG drivers have replaced M3 drivers or Audi RS drivers as the new 'cocks' of the road. CarMad
Looks good but shame its a 4 cylinder motor, I'd still like 5 or more cylinders to get a nice noise if I had the choice.
Booster
Even though it is a 4 cylinder, it is an AMG so they will be sure to make it sound good!
