Torino101
A slightly unusual car at least regarding mileage - it's for my old man, can anyone provide list prices and any thoughts?? Booster
Sure can sir! Mileage looks extremely low. Pm me the reg and I will be able to tell you a lot more.
Luke
That is seriously low on miles. Not even run in. Is that ok for a cars engine to do so little mileage in that time? The ED30 is a great Golf btw.
Torino101
I don't have a reg - sorry. He hasn't been to see the car, he's just struggling to get a genuine price on it with the abnormal mileage.

patently
Budget for a new exhaust as it has probably had lots of short journeys from cold, new seals everywhere as they won't have had much lubrication, and 5 new tyres as it is probably on the original 5 year-old rubber. Check thoroughly underneath and under the bonnet for signs of mice. Ummm... Anything else, chaps?
eldavo69
Not sure I'd be paying a hefty premium for that kind of mileage unless I was going to mothball it.
M8CKN
Im sure its flawless, but I would be concerned about the lack of use. I know I do more mileage than most, but thats 3 weeks driving for me!!
Booster
The wording of the advert leads me to believe it is a genuine car. You can tell a lot from grammar and the depth of detail the seller goes to in terms of backing up such a low mileage.
Booster
It isn't worth what he is asking for it to average Joe but I wouldn't be surprised if he got close to it from someone.
Luke
With mileage that low it's usually genuine. It's so low that it will be picked over in fine detail for errors. How much were ED30's new?
eldavo69
I don't understand why if the major selling point is the low mileage that the dealer states the mileage will increase as he's using the car - bonkers!
Luke
Dealer: ''since you phoned, its done another 15 miles'' its still under 4000 in 6 years though!
Booster
Never mind all of this about the car, let's look at the fact that Torino's dad is looking for a Golf Gti! I think that is pretty cool!

Torino101
Never mind all of this about the car, let's look at the fact that Torino's dad is looking for a Golf Gti! I think that is pretty cool! His other car is a very sedate E350 which is a few years old. He just wants a run around and has been looking at the very last 3.2 A3's but then stumbled across this which caught his fancy. MPG is a total irrelevance to him btw.... Booster
Hmm. Pretty sure that address is one of those Regus serviced offices for people who don't hang about very long....
Luke
Web based car dealers can look mighty impressive. But they can be just a front for a car trader selling a few motors.
Booster
Very often the case for Contract Hire firms. They are often the web front of a vehicle hire company that has a deal to put a certain amount of cars out on hire a year. Little do their supplier know that they are selling them as new vehicles but retaining the V5 for inspection by their supplier. They might get 25% discount on a new vehicle depending on what it is. Sell it with 15% discount and do that a few hundred times then liquidate and disappear and you have a nice little pot to start again.....
cruiser647
A car with that little mileage of that age would scare me something rotten. Having never been used properly, I think the amount of things that would go wrong/have perished would probably double the price in maintenance! Booster
Right, retail on the car with the average mileage of 53k is £11695. The adjustment for the low mileage is £1800 so retail should be £13495. The address of the business is a Regus Serviced Office. Not casting that against the bloke but they are bloody expensive places to base a business unless you plan to only be there for a short time.
