Lussac
From this summer speeding fines resulting from being flashed by mobile/fixed cameras in France become enforceable in UK. A new bill is expected to be passed by the French parliament this month to enable the exchange of data with the UK. Also, be aware of the average speed cameras that are springing up all over the place.
Ian_C
So for the time being I am still safe to give them the usual salute en route to Le Mans?
Tipex
I take it this works both ways, and French drivers will receive fines/points for speeding in the UK? In the past when they had a previous agreement, it was only UK drivers that got the fine and points for speeding in France, French drivers speeding in the UK were quite safe. DanG
Good info, thank you. Very occasionally when driving to the house late at night I have been flashed (by a camera), but never had a letter.

As far as we can ascertain at the moment it will work both ways. So for the time being I am still safe to give them the usual salute en route to Le Mans? Yes, you should be fine for Le Mans. Lussac
Looks though it won't apply to UK drivers after all according to this: Britons and Irish to escape as France agrees cross-border deal on driving offences – The Connexion
Scotty
That's not how that other write up put it. It was Britons and Irish have escaped until now.

theduisbergkid
I think one of my satistying drives ever was in a foreign plated van, setting off every single (working) speed camera on the A14 from Harwich to the Midlands, I blew kisses at an unmarked scamera van. Anyhoo, are we Brits 'safe' on the continent, or not then ?
