CarMad
Yeah so it seems, I wonder what will happen to Whitmarsh, he hasn't been the most charismatic leader of the F1 team to say the least.
cruiser647
Yep, just heard this on the radio. Dennis is back! Bye bye Whitmarsh or something else in the team? Dennis obviously hasn't been happy with the lowly positions since he left.
Luke
He's been busy building a car company. Now he needs to rebuild the F1 team. That's what the road cars were built on the back off.
garcon magnifique
Yeah so it seems, I wonder what will happen to Whitmarsh, he hasn't been the most charismatic leader of the F1 team to say the least. He'll be sent to the goulag along with anyone else in Woking who dares to question the return of Der Fuhrer.
Luke
McLaren is a F1 team, that in one season won all but one of the races in a season, to not being on the podium in 2013. Dennis and McLaren cannot carry on like that. They have to be up there for the company to sell cars.

garcon magnifique
http://sniffpetrol.com/2014/01/17/ron-dennis-gets-straight-to-work/ There will need to be a serious burying of hatchets for Ross to work for Ron. But it's not impossible. I think a Ron-Ross-Alonso 'dream team' might be a stretch too far though.
Andy_Bangle
Apparently Whitmarsh was not present when Dennis addressed the workforce yesterday.
CarMad
Interesting, will have to see how it shakes out, going to every single GP is pretty hard work these days so I'm not sure if Dennis himself is going to do it, time will tell hey. Twinspark
McLaren is a F1 team, that in one season won all but one of the races in a season, to not being on the podium in 2013. Dennis and McLaren cannot carry on like that. They have to be up there for the company to sell cars. To be fair, that was very unusual circumstances - they were the only team who turned up with a brand new car built around a brand new V6 Turbo engine for the last season of those regulations. Everyone else was taking a longer term view and was caught out by the McLaren move. Don't forget that McLaren floundered for much of the last couple of decades, so last season wasn't a one-off. Andy_Bangle
McLaren could reportedly miss the first test after their 2014 car, the MP4-29, failed one or more mandatory FIA crash tests - Not the best start to the season.
jimdiesel
How many championships did they win with Ron? Not enough given their resources. Ron is not the man to lead the race team.

jimdiesel
I'm not sure if Ross would consider working for Ron. Despite his obvious skills he would only ever be an employee at Ronsworld.
garcon magnifique
All depends how desperate Ross is for a hands on role.
CarMad
Ross would be great to run the team if Ron left him to it and concentrated on running the business side and making money to help the race team. Mmmmmm interesting.
Andy_Bangle
.... Ron went quicker than expected. Unlike their F1 cars. Ron Dennis relinquishes role as McLaren chairman and chief executive www.skysports.tv/FRfbSy
CarMad
Can't be easy for him, the guy that effectively created the team and made the company what it is today. Yes lots of money to get it there but either way its a sad day for F1 personally.
