NewNiceMrMe
They're actually a very smooth (very, very) engine but they have a more rolling pull than the urgency of the M3. They handle incredibly well but feel heavy and a bit light on the front. The exhausts are weird and the sound is ever so deceiving at low speed, but they do have a nice howl to them at full pace. The interiors are nice and the build quality is exceptional. Easily BMW standard. The Nav is ridiculously stupid as it was in our RX400h. It treats you like a child and takes too long to set. It is a fast processor but the sets aren't very intuitive. They're very stealthy. Anonymity is assured and that can be quite cool. I don't know if there's a new model, but the one I drove was a 2009 and I think that's still the same car now? Could be wrong. Mac
Oh well, bin that idea - TopGear think it's pants compared to the '3....and the handling of the M3 is probably my favourite thing. Also, the exhausts are fake! What's that about. Edited April 27, 2014 by Mac
Twinspark
Thanks for your help, no, really. Now please **** off. Lexus IS.. 'the Japanese Mercedes' and favoured by 'sex people' That will forever be the issue with an IS. Forever associated with Alan Partridge. On a more serious note - can't help but feel you'd be disappointed, especially with the interior - the IS and CT200 have always been a bit 'Matsui' in quality and feel. (Wouldn't stop me having an IS300h if I could... but that would mostly be for the cheap tax)
Mac
Also, am I wrong to be a bit nervous about the idea of 400+BHP through the rears and *no* LSD? Nearly wiped out in a mate's 335 on a roundabout having expected it to behave like my '3.
Booster
Outdated jap rubbish. The more I drive our Q5, the more I love our BMW. It does make you realise how good a car they make.
Mac
I did enjoy the new RS4 so that's still on the list. Not as sharp as the M3. I guess I'll hang on to test the new M4, but that's a lot of cash new for something I'll pile a bucket of miles on. Ye gods, choices, choices. garcon magnifique
Evo actually rated the ISF pretty highly, possibly because it was much better than their (very low) expectations. I saw one the other day funnily enough. It's a six or seven year old car, bit of a bargain at twenty grand or so against similar age stuff but I doubt it's going to compete against new models. Nine. Nine. Seven. Just do it.

cruiser647
Suck it & see. Everything you drive will be completely different to your M3 anyway, so you have nothing to lose. I do believe Tiff liked it, and so did the girls on their track test with Plato in an M3. Wasn't much in it with them both hooning them. Big V8 + Lexus build = never going wrong. (Although I don't think your M3 has gone wrong???) Stealth and maybe cheaper running costs (servicing???) Fuel - probably the same.
Tipex
My understanding is that they are excellent cars, but just not quite the drivers car the M3 is. Lexus interiors are fantastic imo, as MRME says, an easy match for BMW, but they do have a certain plasticy feel to them as with all Japanese cars really. I'd have one, but I think it would feel like a backward step after an M3.

Mac, go pester your local Lexus dealers about the real deal - the RC F, unveiled at Detroit earlier this year. http://www.caranddriver.com/features/2015-lexus-rc-f-feature http://jalopnik.com/2015-lexus-rc-f-this-is-it-1497071691
