Twinspark
No, really, it is. Distinctly 'not round', therefore an MOT fail. In technical terms, my floating discs were 'too floaty'.
NewNiceMrMe
Bobbins?
Twinspark
Yes, that's the real technical term for them. 'Brake disc bobbins'.
Luke
They don't look very round.
Twinspark
Ordered a new set this afternoon - 5 bobbins and 5 wavy washers. 25 quid. Hopefully be able to get it all sorted before I have to pay for a retest.

Scotty
I didn't know they were replaceable? I thought they were kinda riveted through the disk and the disk holder. My mate puts WD40 on his!
Twinspark
Not sure for all bikes - but BMW certainly list them as replaceable - it's a Brembo setup, so quite likely to be fairly standard? The disc design allows for 'up and down floatiness' but not for 'rotational floatiness'. It's the flattening of the bobbin that caused the rotational floatiness and thus cost me an MOT. Strangely, it was only on the right front disc - the left was within tolerance. Never seen it before, though.

Twinspark
New bobbins and wavy washers fitted. Now only slightly floaty and only floaty in the right direction. Hopefully they can squeeze in the re-test tomorrow. Fussy b'stards.
