Andy_Bangle
A race marshal at a local banger racing event was knocked off his feet by an out of control car with a teenage girl at the wheel.. he was taken to hospital as a precaution but released later with only bruising. patently
Not good. Glad he's "only" bruised. It's worth mentioning that the marshals at most club race meetings are all volunteers. They give up their weekends for free, stand out in the rain/whatever, and if we have a problem they come running towards the danger to help us out. And the circuit makes them wear orange jumpsuits They get a better view of the racing than most, but they're working for that whole time. They need to keep abreast of the race positions of the cars in order to blue-flag the tail-end-charlies when they're being lapped, and they need to watch their sector like a hawk to get the yellow flags out when we cock up. Without them, we wouldn't be able to race. Yet all they get in return is a wave from the drivers on the cooling-down lap, and our eternal gratitude.
Twinspark
I'm wondering what she was thinking? It's like she just planted her foot on the throttle and went for it... wonder if she had a grudge against the marshal?
Andy_Bangle
Twinspark, I was expecting a misogynistic reply from you along the lines of "what i've learned by time is that female drivers decide to hit the throttle harder if they sense threat or when they are about to crash...very weird logic, but hey..thats why they are meant to be in the kitchen.." garcon magnifique
It's worth mentioning that the marshals at most club race meetings are all volunteers. Pretty much all club meetings and the huge majority of professional series as well, up to and including F1.
