Andy_Bangle
There’s nothing scarier for a racing driver than getting your throttle stuck open… other than finding yourself wheel to wheel with Patently Maldonado. Well that’s what happened to Formula Ford driver, Ashley Sutton, and this is the moment he took a barrier to the face at Knockhill. Ouch BTW, it was a rear brake failure. As you're probably aware you need to exert a lot of pressure on a racing brake pedal and when it failed the pedal went "long" and Ash's foot bumped into the accelerator. patently
Oooh-ya. That's nasty. Bear in mind that we will usually brake but keep our foot covering the accelerator so that we can heel & toe, so if the brake pedal suddenly dropped there would have been nothing he could do. Busby
Holy Smoke, that was a big hit! Has to be one of the scariest things that can happen to you. The feeling when the brake penal goes straight to the floor can't be a good one! It happened last season to one of the MotoGP guys - Aleix Espargaro. He pulled the lever, nothing happened and so he had to throw himself off it at some silly speed. He was somewhat pumped up when he got back the garage to see the mechanics! Scotty
Wow it didn't look like the gravel slowed him at all!
E-bmw
Gravel only slows you down if the vehicle 'digs in' other wise it is at best innefective, and at worst can flip a vehicle.

This. He's going way too fast to dig in, so he just skims over the top.
patently
Happens even with lightweight cars:
Tipex
Why don't they graduate the gravel? As in not make it flat, but waves? I'm guessing because it'll almost certainly flip a car going sideways? Edited September 20, 2014 by Tipex
