Andy_Bangle
Not a bad advert for a new shopping centre, as adverts go - I didn't spot a single Pound store or betting shop Racing driver Carlos Sainz Jr., takes an Infiniti Red Bull Racing car on a cruise through Yas Mall ahead of its opening in November 2014
Tipex
No pound shops or charity shops, but having said that, all the units were empty! Wonder if this'll be another Nurburgring mall, a massive white elephant designed to attract people to the middle of nowhere*? The problem is, if you aren't interested in cars or racing, you still wouldn't go, and if you are, you wouldn't be interested in the mall! *i'm not sure of the geography, but most race tracks aren't in populated areas. Arch
Not even an attempt to tackle an escalator. At least Patently would have had a go.

Tipex
Not much point them being full of stuff considering it doesn't open for another few weeks The point was, that they are clearly empty and not currently let, at this stage, so close to opening, the signage would be up and staff would be being trained if the units were let. So when it does open, it's going to look pretty much exactly like it does now, lots of boarded up units.
Andy_Bangle
Yes, sorry of course you're correct. Feel better now? ... and of course there's no chance that video was shot during construction work as all that dust & hordings are a normal part of the shopping experience. Tipex
Oh ffs, I don't really care, it was a comment about it possibly being a white elephant, if you want to keep arguing you're going to have to do it with yourself.

patently
The problem is, if you aren't interested in cars or racing, you still wouldn't go, and if you are, you wouldn't be interested in the mall! Actually, it might be very cunning marketing indeed. There are indeed large groups of people who regularly head for race tracks but have no interest in motorsport, they're called wives, girlfriends and family. What's more, they are often surprisingly happy to spend money on themselves while their husband/boyfriend/dad is burning through a set of expensive tyres in a day... It's built on the Yas Island and connected to both the circuit and Ferrari World so lots of bored women folk. It might be, but it didn't work at the Nurburgring. In my experience, most race tracks are are proper sausage fests, with very few women folk.
