Cuprabob Posted July 8, 2016 Report Share Posted July 8, 2016 As above, MK5 Golfs have electric power steering so no fluid to top up. MK5 steering racks are notoriously noisy especially on full lock and "groan" quite a bit. On early models VW replaced them under warranty with a revised rack, but even that one was noisy.
