mmylonas
RS2 owned trouble free for last four years. 2 days ago discovered carpet behind driver's seat soaking wet. Dried it out, traditional English summer guaranteed another night of heavy rain and now have paddling pool for godchildren both there and in driver's footwell. Only thing that has happened to car was small bump from other driver to rear bumper ten days ago which split the plastic. Can they be related? Any ideas anyway? Before the car floats away? Any help gratefully received. Michael [email protected]
Sven
Dunno what's in there, but maybe a sunroof or aircon drain that's clogged? Unless the 'small bump' wasn't so small after all... Let's hope not.
James_dj
it could be the sunroof drain pipes which run down the door pillar. or there is the scuttle panel across the front below the windscreen. make sure the rubber seal is over this and not tucked in otherwise water can leak thru here. or finally it could be your door seals. greg
whimsical_chris
Had a similar problem in my first car ( a Polo ). It seemed to let water in when I parked it with the back of the car higher than the front. Not sure where it came in, but as long as I parked bonnet up it stayed dry. Maybe a seal around the rear windows ? Once it dried out it was fine.
Jamppa56
This may be because of the rain water drain holes being clogged. If your car has the same desing as in A6, the rain water drain gets easily clogged by leaves etc. In A6s, the drain holes are located under the battery. It is easy to remove the plastic cover panels and the battery and the battery holder rack. Underneath the rack, there are two drain holes that must be cleared every now and then or else the water level rises above the lead-ins at the fire wall and leak into the footwell. Open the battery cover hatch and look for water in that section.
