hi everyone! it's been a while since i've been to the forum but thought i'd pop back and catch up!

I have a question however, does anyone have a mobile phone holder permanently fitted? I'm about to have an XDA2 fitted and i've looked at the proclip range from brodit to see which holder is best suited for me to mount the XDA car mount on but i'm not sure if any of them get in the way when the seat is lifted forward.

Has anyone got any pictures of their phones in the car? or has anyone got a PDA in there?

Hi Carl, long time no hear!

I've not got the XDAII but I have a fully installed kit for a Nokia 6310i, and yes, the passenger seat does hit it when put forward. No piccies to hand, but I'll see if I can post you details later.

My GF has the XDAII & has had the car kit on order from O2 for about 3 months, and no visibility from O2 as to when it's going to appear, if ever. Could linky to the things your looking at using for me?

Cheers

Al.

Dash mount do a PDA holder that fits in the air vents of the golf - unfortunately it doesn't fit the R32 due to the different style of air vents.

With the brodit centre console clip don't they just clip in down the side of the trim unlike the dashmount holder which is screwed into the aircon control? If thats the case doesn't it offer some flexability in mounting? Surely you could just mount it a bit higher up the centre console so it would definatley clear the seats?

Personally I don;t have any problems with it catching as the passenger seat is as low and as far back as it will go.

I'll take some piccies with the seat up if you like.

Yup, mines installed in the centre console and it really doesn't bother me touching the seat. The Silver surround around the Aircon was removed & the phone holder has been bolted on there & then the surround placed back, no problems. All looks very nice & doesn't actually interfere with anything other than the passenger seat, when it's fully forward. With regards to moving it, IIRC it's not that easy as the mount plate is almost as big as the aircon unit. Moving it would (I think) restrict the surround clipping back on neatly.

thanks guys. the holder i'm looking at looks like it will put the phone roughly where it does in the pictures that marriedblonde put up. i was concerned about it being too high up if i mounted it next to the stereo. I've seen the brackets that mount on and around the airvents but one of then menat the cupholders couldn't be used shocked.gif and the other one obscured the hazard switch iamwithstupid.gif

honestly, these designers....

Smudge, the link you need for your GF's XDA2 is XDA2 holder is here->

and another is here!

Ok, a tad later than I thought, but here's how the kits fitted:

Firstly, the seat butts up like so:

233939-Nokia%20car%20kit%20004.jpg

and the holder is mounted into the centre console behind the brushed plastic, I mean aluminium surround like so:

The seat thing really doesn't bother me, the seat is rarely pushed forward and even when it is it only touches.

Hope this helps.

Mine doesn;t catch the seat as my cradle's cable less - nokie bluetooth car kit...

And before anyone asks I have the cradle so my phone doesn;t float around the car and end up under the seats - well you gotta thrash it haven't you...

And I went for the bluetooth car kit as I have more than one phone although rather annoyingly (god I wish I could spell) the Sony echo's something awful with th nokia kit mad.gif
