LagerLout
Guys, I drove a CSL on the weekend at a BMW dealer and now I'm hooked. Ok in total lust would be a better word. I've had a succession of DTM type cars last being a Mercedes 190 Evolution and love the drive. The CSL is just the dogs. Now, the list on these is about £58K. I had the dealer at me like a rabid dog for the last few days to commit to the deal on an example at £48K with 6500mls. Now I've been finding these babies are still available new (although very small numbers) and they are listing for £50K ish or thereabouts. I spoke to a couple of companies and apparently the arse has dropped out of the residuals and a lot of places won't touch the cars. Q: What should I pay for a CSL with Bi-Xenons, Air Con, CD etc? Personally I don't give a stuff if it is completely option-less but they all seem to come with this spec. My only proviso is it must be silver grey. The depreciation looks mammoth, so I'm going to keep well away from deposits and balloons, rather contract hire it through my own company. I have a contact who can get me on this way. Any advice appreciated! Ta!
Lagoo
Hi and welcome to TSN Firstly make sure you have the Aircon, for resale i think its an absolute must! I have seen example like you describe as low as £46K so keep looking!
Gareth
I have two friends who I have helped to get their CSL's (with the right spec) for c. £45k That's the level you should be aiming for on a new or very low mileage "demo" CSL. Makes me cry when I remember paying £62k for mine back in September last year...
Gabster
Here is a nice car from the BMW website. I am sure you could get them down to £45k and it has had the speed limiter removed. Anyone know the top speed unlimited?
phatgixer
Mine is de-limited and the best I have seen on the autobahn is 182 on the speedo, but it was still climbing inexorably. I have had a discussion with a Kent based CSL owner who has a deresticted car who says that when his reached an indicated 186 mph the DSC light flashed and the car stopped accelerating. Dunno if there is a secondary "tyre safety" limiter hard wired into the ECU? My estimate is that it would run to at least 185 on the speedo and accounting for the usual nanny over-reading errors in the reading it should equate to at least 175 mph depending on atmospherics. A limited standard M3 (not CSL) reads 169 on the speedo but the GPS OB2 shows 163... Not the 155 that is supposedly in effect. The E46 M3 certainly goes faster than my SL55AMG at speed limited max... Interesting, as they should be the same.... Mercedes more nanny than BMW? Surely not:D
Pradip
How do you get the car de-restricted, barring the racing licence requirement? Thanks
