Gaunty
Sounds like the big end bearing has gone, the fan on my Northbridge is making a right bloody racket this morning. I've checked for loose wires or objects getting in the way and can't find anything. I might have to invest in new fans sooner than I thought. Snail
Mate, if you have a fan on your northridge, how about considering one of the zimmerman fanless jobbies. I have one, and i have no problems, and its one less fan making noise Quiet PC I think thats where i got it from.
Gaunty
One of the wires underneith was poking into the fan a tiny bit, fixed it now although I like the idea of fanless beats the crap out of all this noise!
Waylander
uumm - not really a good idea now you have immersed yourself in the world of overclocking! you need cooling mate, cooling!
loys
Gaunty, you don't happen to have a Gigabyte MB ??
Gaunty
No, ABIT, why have you had the same problem Loys? Its as quiet as a computer with four fans can be now. Not happy with it, I might abandon the overclocking project and underclock and go for passive cooling. The other thing is that the motherboard gives you the option of using a slow fan speed if the chip is cool but also has an alarm if the fan drops below 2500RPM, this is crazy because that equates to 10.5 volts only 1.5v lower than normal and no difference in noise! Anyway, it doesn't make any difference, the case fans drown out the processor and NB fan anyway.
