benson01
Hello all. My first post onto the Polo forum... My little ol' GTI Polo is great, but I am toying with the leather option (if still available - my local VW dealer had no clue about it at all!). Anyway, my query is this, would the leather interior add much weight to the car? If so then I don't want it. As we all know more kg's = less mph's... Also the price, i've seen it quoted as anything between £950 and £4000(yeeks!). Can you guys confirm ££££. Cheers.
Moschops
Benson, Attached is a pic of my Wife's Polo GTI with the leather option. http://www.tyresmoke.net/attachments/220198-Polo01%20%2811%29sml.JPG By the sound of your post you already have the car? So if you wanted this 'option' you would have to either find a crashed car or approach a car upholster to recover the seats in leather. Or if money is no object then order them through VW parts.. My wifes has the side airbags installed. NB this option if obtained via VW is NOT full leather, only the seat facings, headrests and bolsters are leather, the seat backs and sides are vinyl And they are also heated. The cards are also leather along with the rear quarter panels. See also the post about Polo GTI with leather as it has some more pics. http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=1,2,12,15,22,25,26,27,8&Number=220198&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1 I have a feeling this option was about £1400. I will check later for you. The door cards are certainly a lot nicer than the stock items. HTH Nearly forgot, I would have said the weight issue is negligible (spell)
spudgun
(imo) You'd have to be a very consistent driver doing lap after lap on a racetrack with accurate timing gear to notice any extra weight from leather seats in a car such as a Polo
delibird
I've got the heated leather seats in mine, and I absolutely love them
Depresion
When I had the seats in my Mk4 retrimmed I could notice the differance in how heavy they were carrying them in and out of the car, but the mass of the vehicle has very little effect on the top speed only the acceleration. The problem with retriming is the door cards are a right pain to get right due to there shape.
