Hi there. Have been following your forum for some time and the wealth of information it has. I have recently purchased an A8 4.2 sport, in metalic green and it is an awesome drive. Have longed for one of these for some time, but now I have one.

The car was purchased on E-Bay and I picked it up from London from a dealer who deals in finance cars. There are some niggles with the car but these should be sorted out soon, apart from the passangers mirror, where the moneys who tried to fix it have ripped out the wires to the mirror so now it does not work, well not fully.

Anyway was wondering if any of you kind people had any info on how to programme the car. I mean setting the memory seat function, clock etc. The car did not come with the manual and I am a bit stuck on how to set some of the functions.

I was lucky in the fact that the car was fully loaded, which I did not expect. Needs some TLC and it will be back to its prime.

Thanks in advance for any info that you can supply.

Welcome!

To set the clock, just push down and hold the both? clock set buttons until they start flashing, then adjust it, then if you don't push anything for 10 seconds, it will stop flashing and it will be set.

To set the seat memory, set your seat, steering wheel and mirrors, then push down the seat memory button and then push down which memory button you want it to be associated with.

But beware, if the key fob is not set up to the number "1" or whatever position you set, it will go to those set positions associated with either 2, 3 or 4.

You can recode the key fob if you have two keys by following the instructions here.

Good luck!

Hi there, welcome to TSN! beerchug.gif

Paul has covered the questions already, so there you go! Have a look in the 'Useful links' thread here, and you'll see a lot of info on these cars, and also a Quick Reference Manual in PDF format. Not a full owners manual, but it's a start. And make sure to check out www.audipages.com essential for any 8 owner.

Any other questions, just ask!

Thanks for the info. Only was supplied with one key with the car so will have to get another one and then go through this procedure.

Getting some rubbing noise from the passangers side when I go round coners. Do not think that this is the CV joint as it is not making the normal ticking niose you normally get with this fault, so have booked it in to get the wheel alignment check out with an audio specialist. Have been recommended this by my friend who is an Ferrari Mechanic, who servered 5 years on Audi's. I must be one of the lucky ones and he loves the A8 as well and is willing to play with my car for a few beers, and boy does he know he stuff.

Would have loved an S8 but funds could not go that far so managed to get the next best thing. An 4.2 Q Sport.

Did ask my pal about the seats but he could not remember. Showed him some of the stuff that I have gleened from this forum and audipages and he was very impressed with the wealth of knowledge about these great cars. So thanks to you all.

Cheers.

Hi, Welcome to TSN and nice mota!

Yeah, there was one on eBay. Green too, was an Audi demo car I believe.

1995/6 model? From North London. If it is that one, it has been mentioned before, as it was on eBay earlier this year as well.

One of the other TSN'ers got his car from eBay, I bid on two on eBay but lost out.

Hope you enjoy it - as I too had lusted after one for quite a while before getting one! 169144-ok.gif

Hello, welcome to Audi A8 V8 4.2 sportland. smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

Rubbing noise = Bearings need replacing, just had my front right bearings done, it is virtually silent now (except now I can hear another suspension related noise, (I think)like low speed banging!!!! Oh B0ll0x!!!!)

Programming seat position = get ya seat right, hold down the memory key and the number you want at the same time. Should hear a clicking noise and its set.

To set the remote key fob to your desired seating position press key fob and lock ya self in! Press it again to unlock car, open door, hold down key fob button whilst pressing the memory number you want, you should hear a clicking noise. Then (in theory) each time you open the car via the key fob the seat memory etc should adjust to how you like it! Err think thats right... grin.gif

yes I have been to the pub again........
