V6 TT

Hey, I'm toying with the idea of getting one of the new TTs, mind you, when I say "toying" my name is top of the list at my local dealership...but I've been having doubts about whether the performance increase over the 225 makes it worth it. What I'm wondering is if anyone has driven one of the demo cars and can give me feedback on this??

Thanks! confused.gif

As far as i know there`s no demo cars in the UK yet!

But alot of the magazines have good reviews about it.

I`ve always thought the the TT just need this engine from day one! and now it got something else which really had all the magazines happy, the new DSG transmission! smile.gif

Get one! go go go jump.gif

Although I've just upgraded from a 180TTC to a 225TTC, I'd certainly be interested in getting a TTC V6. Maybe a project for 1st Mar 04. beerchug.gif

The new gearbox is certainly interesting, especially for urban driving and I inderstand that the steering, brakes and suspension have been tweeked as well.

The only thing I'm not keen on is the black mesh stuff around the exhausts and the black edge around the rear spoiler. smashfreakB.gif

Hopefully, these can be ordered in the colour of the car rather than black. znaika.gif

Well thats what I thought as well, but I spoke to a branch of Caffyns Audi fairly local to me to ask how long their wating list is and apparently they have about 10 people on it- and all of them have driven one!! grrrr. Of course it could all be bu||$h1t!! It seems a little crazy (even for me!!) to buy a car that I haven't driven, but that seems to be what's happening....

Maybe I shoulda read ALL the replys before writing another...lol

Scotty- get an early test drive, bring it round and lemme have a play!!! grin.gif

As for a release date, I've heard everything from June (Evo, April) to Late summer (Audi drivers, March) but my dealership are keeping stoomp. I was hoping sooner but now I guess the later the better so I can get the cash sorted, although my old quattros giving up the ghost worrying fast! crazy.gif

I've not heard much about the new S3- kinda fancy the idea of having a 2 (ish) seater....but could be tempted, what's new?

The mesh won't pose a problem for me since it'll be black anyway lol. Besides, it's needs something to set it aside from the others cool.gif

The other thing is, 30k is a lot for not so much power... Evo 8 is cheaper and madly faster, as is the WRX STI (drove one minus the performance upgrade on Saturday) but the TTs got more class...and the interior in the WRX is nasty.... There's just SO many cars to choose from!! I need convincing the TTs the best jump.gif

Cheers guys

Depends what you want - the TT in any guise will never be an Evo at the end of the day the Evo is designed as a serious tool for wannabe getaway drivers, I haev seen some of the pics and stuff that RS6 Barry has posted of his Evo and that looks quite serious and I doubt without a lot of money a TT would ever match these cars.

BUT, the TT does look nice inside, it is comfy for long hauls, and is also still very good fun, I imagine the V6 will be excellent and if it sounds anything like the R32 Golf then it will certainly turn heads (If it doesnt then shoot audi exhaust designer).

At the end of the day depends exactly what you are looking for, but at that price you must be looking at an Evo FQ or something like that and the TT is not (IMO) comparable.

Argh, not sure that's what I wanted to hear!! lol. Yeah the SQ300 (I think) would be the one if I went for an Evo *sigh* Mind you, the insurance is about 3 times the TT... it doesn't even have a stereo cool.gif I've always thought that if I was going for that league of car it would be a V-Spec Skyline... but they're silly money so I can't (or shouldn't!!) lol.gif

Well at the end of the ady the TT was primarily aimed at people wanting a nice looking sporty coupe/roadster the Evos are aimed at people expecting a bit more (again IMO) on the sporty side and a little less on the appearance side.

We had a chat about the Skyline on here a week or so back, probably in the general cars bit.

Here in fact.

I suspect the dealers know little more than us, until the very last minute. My local dealer is a regular on German car fans to get the ltest gen & rumours !

If the exhaust is anything like the R32 it would be worth having a CD of the sound !!!! I think it will move the TT up and along ( in spite of what I said in the TT Section guys ! ) Shame it took so long.

I think Audi have been very clever in this respect leaving it late on, the second hand market will grow and what this means that the secondhand market will be that big that the price`s will drop bigtime!

Also a 150bhp FWD TT is due too, i think it`ll be priced around 20k? ............. as nice as the TT is one of the main things i disliked is the fact that they are all over the place. common, and personally i would go for a S3 all the time. smile.gif just my opinion though smile.gif

Fatcat is best to tell you abou thte S2000 as I think he has one on his drive.

THe VX I think is only comparable with the TT because it has 2 seats, I would imagine the VXT will be better handling that standard TT - again though I think you have chosen another car that is not really that similar to the TT. Will it be your only car? I doubt I could live with something liek the VX as sole car as quite compact!

[ QUOTE ]

You think there common coz you notice them

[/ QUOTE ] i notice all cars on the road smile.gif hee hee, naaa seriously its all about personal preference really, some like to be seen and some like to blend in, i dont think mine blends in that much because of the colour, but i really like the subtle look of the S cars, will try and go for a RS car next, hopefully if they make a RS3 smile.gif

My mate has got a TT and its a smashing motor but my S is more suited to me smile.gif

I've just replaced my TT with a normally aspirated VX220 and it is quicker to 100 than my heavily modded TT. Oout handles in massively as well. Its the most direct driving car I have ever driven.

However, this it is also one of the most impractical cars ever as well. I have therefore replaced my TT with 2 cars. The VX220 for fun and a 4 year old Vectra auto estate for just getting to work and back and carrying stuff around in. I did an 80 mile run the other night in the VX and by the time I stopped my nose was frozen and my ears were bleeding from the noise! crazy.gif It's not a sensible car!

I still think the TT is a fantastic car and if I was replacing with a single car it would have been another TT but I decided to go the 2 car route (for less money) and have specialists...

I'm doing the 2 car thing as well. Seems like a good idea but paying two lots of tax, insurance, servicing etc makes me wonder whether it's really worth doing. I suppose it's different if one of your cars is highly impractical. In my case, one was just too expensive to run as a main car when I was doing 40000 miles a year.

I was actually thinking about going down the 2 car route, having something basic for everyday is going to be fairly cheap to insure and tax (potentially) but then that opens up another door to the land of weekend cars; TVRs etc. Plus I know what I'm like....the smallest excuse and I'd be driving the 'beast' and the sensible car would just be used when the other one is being serviced etc, lol.

I tried to get a test drive in the VX220 turbo the other say but my local Vauxhall isn't dealing with them so if I want to drive one it's going to be a hassle. Plus the inside isn't very nice, they say they're going for the minimum weight etc etc so no leccy windows, but there IS a stereo...? Wheres the consistency is that?? Plus it's a Vauxhall and I had a nightmare with my Calibra turbo so I'm a bit shy of Vauxhalls, although I'm sure it's unjustified I just can't see past it!!
