Can anyone help me out here?? I have an A2 with a chorus sound system. I have just bought a Sony CDX F7700 headunit for it and before i fitted it I spoke to Audi about borrowing some keys to get the old headunit out. When metioning what i was planning on doing they advised me to not bother!!!! Saying that the wiring for the A2 was configured in a way that I would likely blow any head unit that i tried to fit!!! If the ampage was different then I could cause myself some serious problems!!

Does anyone know anything about this?? Or is it audi feeding me some bulls**t?! I see a few people in the forum claim to have fitted other headunits in there A2's and was wondering if they needed any sort converters to fit properly. I have the facia adapter already do I need anything else?

Thanks

just a word of warning!! you may have seen my post on this forum (dodgy A2!) the previous ovners fitted a dvd multichanger head unit and speakers etc and screwed the electrics in the car, with it been aluminium its hard to earth things and adding extra earths can bugger up the existing things that are earthed... also i would advise you do not cut into any of the loom to get power as the way the a2 works itt will send a signal to certain parts of the car in our situation it was the power steering and brakes and because the dvd player was breaking into the loom it recived the signal and told the onboard computer it was fooked and therefore it shut down the power steering (which is electronic on them)

so be carefull... very carefull!

if you are going to do fit a load of ice to it i strongy advise you get a specialist to fit it for the sake of a few quid they will be responsible for a big bill if they get it wrong not you!

Oli
