There really easy to do Riz as the plug at the back is already there !

If you remove the little access flap you will see the plug taped up to the main loom with masking tape. 169144-ok.gif

Very much like the footwell lamps and an extra in the boot would be good also as the 1 at the bottom is useless.

cheers

I beleave some people have done this yes, more on the MkIV forum I think. It won't take too much current but should be enough to power a small amp. The only problem you may face with an amp powered from there is interferance.

The Mk4 suffers quite badly with noise esp from the ECU's and HID's ect, going direct to the battery is the key.

Some people seem to get away with it fine though, when I did all my ICE i did suffer badly with wine noises and buzz.

cheers

Nice.... just a quick question, was it difficult to fit the 12v power outlet in your boot?

Hi Riz, mine came that way, and i personally do not recommend to connect a Amp to this powersource unless you want to add 20Watt to your system and let shtf.gif .

I dont really understand car electronics but i assumed that 12volts was ok for a amp? how much does the car battery output?

12 Volt is the on-Board Voltage, the outlet is limited with the maximum current it allows without dropping in voltage.

The Amperes make it. The outlet is hooked up to a 0.75mm2 wire, leaves you with P=U*I as its basics to wattage.

recommendation is for the 0.75mm2 wire a max current of 8 Ampere @ a temperature of absolute 0 since we live in 20-22DegreeC enviroment gives the copper a resistance there for it acts like a heater. i am coming inot details here...sorry

P=U*I 12Volt*8Ampere=96Watt connection max.

in my opinion not much of an Amplifier if you calculate with a coefficiency of 0.7 leaves you with 67Watt Power to the Speakers.

Way too long of a post. I am going ECLIPSe.gif
