We almost bought my wife one instead of her 320d SE.

However, the 2.5TDi was way too expensive for what we got to be honest. I also knew the BMW dealership of course because of my frequency of changing cars!

But, I do love the shape of the A4 Cab. To prove my non-bias to the BMW brand I think anyone buying a non-S4/M3 cabriolet (i.e. any other BMW Cab) over an Audi A4 Cab must be mad.

For me, the S4 Cab just wasn't up to the M3 Cab in a number of ways.

But in any other form, the A4 wins hands down in Cab form as far as I am concerned - but they need to sort the options out - they're even worse than BMW.

There is one thing about Audi that is superb too - their colour range is far far superior to that of BMW who continue to offer customers 3 choices (exaggeration I know..but it still annoys me).

@m3me:

its to nice to read views from someone who appreciates cars in general, rather than being stubbornly brand-loyal 169144-ok.gif

if the m3 looked as nice as the a4 cab, and had the same quality interior, i'd use it as my everyday motor, as the drive/handling are far more fun. for me the main factor was the interior (cos thats where i sit, and i just love the audi build quality of the buttons, the feel of the seats, etc)

Don't misunderstand me....I still think an M3 Cab looks far better than any normal A4 Cab! But the 3 series cab over the A4 cab is where the Audi wins.

The Audi does look better inside but as a much newer car you'd expect it too. The new 3 series will present it very interesting competition because word has it the cab will be CC form - hard top electric roof, not canvas.

I hope Audi will go this way!! VW are apparently going to so hopefully Audi will too!!! 169144-ok.gif

No no no no no!!! blush.gif

Folding hard tops are fine for 2 seaters like Merc SL and SLK, but a disaster on 4 seaters because the roof section needs to be that much longer.

As a result in order to shorten the roof section as much as possible they curve the windscreen so far back you virtually sit under it not behind it (and the screen looks longer than it is wider), and the rear of the car looks rediculous due to the length it needs to be to accomodate all the folding metal roof.

Witness the Paugeot 307CC and Megane CC, terrible oddly proportioned cars with ridiculous windscreens. smashfreakB.gif

i'm confused now.

an m3 cab looks the same as a 3 series cab, because it is the same body. m3 has little gills but thats it, as most 3 series cabs have the m-styling kit and m-wheels too.

the only other difference is exhausts and badge. hardly transforms the cars appearance does it?

Thats so not true!

The differences are:

Different bonnet (power bulge)

Different wings (wider arches, front and rear)

Different front valance (much deeper air dam)

Different rear valance (for the 4 exhausts)

The M bodykits fitted to normal 3 series cabriolets are not the same as the body on the M3. Very different.

Furthermore, a normal 3 series cannot have the 19" M wheels fitted to it - they are a special size and the wheels on the rear are a different shape to the wheel on the front.

Then, yes, there are the vents too.

Have a look around - you will see, and read, that a 3 series shares very very very few component parts with an M car - and they are made in two completely different factories.

i said "an m3 cab looks the same as a 3 series cab" and to most people it does. its just the same for audi "s" and non "s" cars. i'm not trying to argue or anything, but most of the differences are very subtle.

thats why 318i-sport convertibles with m-bodykits are so popular...its easy to confuse it for an m3.

No it is not!

I have not come across anyone who confused any other 3 series cab with an M3 cab....the differences are very very obvious even from a distance!!!!

We're talking much wider arches for a start and the rear looks completely different! As does the front!

I cannot believe for a second that anyone would confuse them!

My Coupe was never confused for a 318, 320, 325, 330, and by Convertible parks near a 320 convertible at work and the two cars look very very different as many would bear witness to!

No way on this earth!
