NewNiceMrMe
My wife has accused me of bias. Both of our cars are parked on the driveway this afternoon. She, for a reason known only to her, is accusing me of neglecting our 320d SE in favour of the M3. She had resorted to going upstairs and taking 3 photographs out of one of the front windows. These, she has presented to me and said "there". Is it me, surely not? I can see no difference in care for the cars at all. Judge for yourself: Snap of M3 rear Snap of 320d SE.... Both...I can't see any difference...

Omi
Click here, enter your card details... Can't really go wrong, and will keep the 320 looking clean, if not as sparkly as the car that you DO actually love! My folks' is plumbed to the front of the garage by the door, so you can just grab the nozzle and give it a quick spray off anytime!
NewNiceMrMe
Argh no! I have never ever ever put any of our cars through a car wash. I once spoke to a guy who worked for a "Silk-wash" car wash company and he showed me what even the most gentle of car washes do to cars. I will never ever do it! NewNiceMrMe
Got one! Tap in garage - reaches out to end of drive but makes it a bit awkward to get to rear of second car so you have to swap them around when pressure washing. It's a Karcher too, and I think the same model actually! Container of liquid that came with it was crap mind you, so I only ever use as water on its own. Its fabulous for doing the initial wash of the 19" wheels with, then spray with Autoglym Clean Wheels, then use two cut-down sponges...one for inside the spokes, one for between the spokes! I also use it when the cars are really pitted from this type of weather, as an initial blast round before getting down to the proper washing. Omi
Jim Ruck road film remover. Not sure if this is commercially available, but I use this on my car. - Karcher the crap off, sponge the car down with Jim Ruck stuff and jetwash it off immediately, otherwise it dries like tar! Leave it at that most of the time, unless we're heading into some nice weather, in which case it'll get the Zymol treatment. Not bothered at the minute, as I'm replacing passenger wing and removing some spots of rust before a respray!
NewNiceMrMe
The 320d is a spectacular car and she's delighted with it, as indeed am I. For long runs it is astounding. We recently drove to Staffs and it was so smooth, so quiet. Perfect. I do think it needs working a bit to get the 150bhp to feel as it should do but the 330d was just way to expensive for the difference (big difference though there is, it wasn't necessary for us). Tell you what...the quickest I think she had was a VW Bora 1.9TDi. Boy that was quick. If you caught it in the right part of the revs range it was enough to give anyone a fright. Noisy though. Far too noisy.

[/ QUOTE ] Completely agree, i've driven mums 320d compact about 600 miles in the last couple of days (inlcuding snow, ice), and its truely exception, soo quiet, soo frugal Only thing, without the traction control its a bit of an animal in the wet (wouldn't dream of turning it off in snow and ice)
NewNiceMrMe
The wife wouldn't know what traction control was. She thinks that is her right foot.
NewNiceMrMe
I'm very upset now anyway. I had to take my car out for 30 minutes. And, as it does, it p*ssed is down and I got behind a lorry that flicked up more crap than a tractor at a mudfest. Guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow. Have to wash hers too I guess. Rachel
Be thankful you don't have to try and wash a huge yellow messy mass of dead and not quite dead locusts off the radiator, not to mention the entire front of the car... How they got through the grill mesh is beyond me.

ian_m
On the subject of you being Bias M3, You probably are, I know I would be!!! Yes the 320d is a good car, but the M3 is a great car!!! It is only natural that your pride and joy takes first place in the car stakes!!!
Mr_b00st
bah, i don't see a difference. But i don't blame you.
RossG
Nah - the 320d is definately more dirty than the M3. Then again it would be wouldnt it I know my car is always cleaner than the Mrs' because, well, I prefer mine
NewNiceMrMe
The point is - why should I always be responsible for washing both cars? Yes, I enjoy washing the cars. A kind of therapy, thats how I think of it. But....she has never washed the 320d! Come to think of it, she has never washed the M3 (nor would I allow her to however!). Besides, her's is 54 plate, mine is and 04 plate - so strictly speaking hers doesn't need as much attention as mine yet....
RossG
[ QUOTE ] The point is - why should I always be responsible for washing both cars? [/ QUOTE ] Hee hee, thats what I always feedback to the Mrs. Especially given that I very rarely use her car. Mind you, it is a nice feeling to have both cars sitting all sparkly. It does look better But she does thousands of miles a month - the car is permanently filthy
NewNiceMrMe
Hers would normally be as gleaming as mine in fairness, so I thought her criticism on this one occasion was most unjust! But, she would choose Carbon Black Metallic....I told her not too...
