NewNiceMrMe
Let's face it - they're a lazy option. They damage your car - no doubt at all. They don't even do a decent job of cleaning your car. So, have you committed the cardinal sin of actually using one? I haven't and am proud to say it. No, not just because its a convertible either. I never put the original Coupe through one, nor the car before that, and my wifes car hasn't been through one either....so I am cleaner than the angel Gabriel himself. But, I want to see how many of you will admit to being the devil incarnate!
Omi
I have, I use the IMO on the way to/from work sometimes when the car looks awful and I happen to have a fiver in my pocket. In my defense, the paintwork is knackered already and my car will get tender, loving handjobs only after I get the bodywork sorted and resprayed. scooby_simon
Yes, today, but a jet wash as scooby was starting to grow crops as he was sooo filthy... Hot some very interesting looks when the first thing I did was clean the jet-wash-brush with the jet-wash mind.....
NewNiceMrMe
Ah now a jet wash might be excusable... However, only the jetting part...not the use of the brush wash stick thing!
sayerbloke
The Nova I always handwashed, the Astra was usually through the carwash, the BMW will *never* see the carwash for as long as I own it

Paul
no, never, and never will. if people wanna put their car through an automatic flail then they are most welcome, but i wont be buying it off them if they do. jet wash at a push for me, and even then i dont use the brush which is full of grit and dirt from previous landrover that is ready to scratch your car.. Rustynuts
Karcher jet washer first to wash the bulk of the dirt off, then car wash mix at low pressure in the machine followed by high pressure wash again. Then, car shampoo in warm water with a sponge followed by rinsing off with pressure washer again. Then the wheels with what's left of the wash mix using a soft hand brush, followed by another high pressure rinse (avoiding the tyres of course). Then Chamois leather to dty it off followed by polishing with Mer polish. Not every week though, I'm afraid. And wifey does the inside.
sayerbloke
I got a new genuine sheepskin chamois leather for christmas... just as well, seeing as the last one is definitely past it`s best. Also got given some Turtlewax Zip Wax Super Concentrate. Give that a go next time I wash the car.
18ME
I use a pretty good Karcher jet wash at the mo and it does work very well, even better than some previous more expensive ones that I've had, BUT this is one that I wanted for Christmas before my wife and I split up. Its a hot/cold electric pressure washer which would be ideal for this crappy weather, saves freezing your hands.
NewNiceMrMe
Gee, sorry to hear about the split 18Me. Chin up matey. R32North
Haven't used a car wash for years! Not the last 5 or 6 cars at least and that would take me back to my early 20s. After using one for a wee while I didn't see any value in paying £5 to come out the other end with a 1/2 washed car. There's a few Autoshine type places around with their 'super' foam and monkeys with power sprays. They seem to do a good job but always very busy, so I've never tried that as a 'lazy' option. Mitt, Bucket and elbow grease for me
SneakyMcC
[ QUOTE ] But, I want to see how many of you will admit to being the devil incarnate! [/ QUOTE ] That'll be me then Yep, use the car wash every week nearly. They jet wash her first, then they set to work with the hand brushes (rinsing them frequently ). And then she goes through the dreaded car wash! first thing that happens is she gets coated with a thick foam. The next process the foam is rinced away taking the grit and dirt with it. Next is those loverly rollers I do have 1 fly in my ointment now though They've replaced the bristle rollers with a foam (bristle) one! Foam holds any dirt left on the car You know, like the handwash places that use a wash mitt When did you ever see those mitts getting a good rincing?
