aditz Posted December 28, 2004 Report Share Posted December 28, 2004 Just had my Passat 1.8 Sport 20V serviced at the VW dealer in Exeter and the problems that they come up with...GOD!!!! 1) Radiator has a hole and is losing coolant... IS THIS NORMAL FOR A YEAR 2000 PASSAT?? £260 2) They said that the clutch is slipping ...the reason for that is because I told them that I'm having trouble with engaging in the 2nd and 3rd gear. Sometimes I can't engage into the 2nd gear at all (anybody had this problem before???) The mechanic at the VW is pretty confident that is the clutch... I still think is something wrong with the gearbox or the gear stick. The car never revs without moving...:-/ (new clutch £570) 3)PAS belt need replacing (something to do with the power stering) 4 ) The cam seal needs replacing ...(( The car is on genuine 69.000 miles ... My opinion, get the stuff you can do yourself done yourself. Get and indi garage to look at the rest. Auotcentres are good but there are loads of good chains these days. As far as the clutch goes. Test it by dropping down a cog to put the engine under stress, boot the gas and if the revs go up then yes it's slipping. Basically in or out of warranty, nobody has to use a main stealer.
