Waylander
got some .avi movies on the pc which i would like to be able to burn to cd to play on the philips dvd player on the tv. never done this beofre so can i just do a straight-forward "burn" with nero, or do i need to convert to any specific format first, and is there any particular way to burn them [eg as a vcd?] thanks
sitas3
I think the best thing is to convert to vcd/svcd then burn using nero. have a search on google for "avi to svcd"
Belchy
I use tmpgenc dvd author (pronounced tempjenk) it can be found on the p2p sites for download and crack.

Belchy
I'm not sure about those you mentioned but FYI ... tmpgenc is a full package that converts, creates menus for the disk and then burns. I would be interested in hearing about others though if they do the same.
Waylander
which version do you use, as i found loads! one caaled tempGEnc dvd author ver 1.6 and also a tempgenc ver 2.524 [amongst lots of other tempgenc version 2.5somethings!!!] mind you 1 difference i have already seen between tmpgenc and the earliuer stuff i got is that they allow burning to cds as vcds [whereas tmpgenc is for dvds only it seems] until i get me a dvd burner [soon!] i guess i will have to stick to the other stuff and give it a try... Gaunty
I use VSO DivX to DVD Converter (it does more formats than just DivX) once you have your file in VOB format its easy to burn them onto DVD or MiniDVD on a CD disk. http://www.download.com/Divx-to-DVD-Converter/3000-7970_4-10351865.html?tag=lst-0-4 Best of all its free! Waylander
cheers boys. i am currently using Cucusoft converter to convert the avis to svcd and then burning to cd with nero. it chops them into 700mb segments for me so does the job. Munki
Not wanting to take away from the original point but you can buy a DVD/DivX/SVCD/MP3/others player for about £40 now, such as the Yamada 6100 (I think) and it plays everything you throw at it. It has composite out, 5.1 out, digital out and plays everything you throw at it (excetpt quick time and real media but they don;t count anyway ). Gaunty
Yeah Munki, but how cool is it to just point the device at your PC and have it play all the music and video straight from there, no more copying it onto DVD or CD first.
