Drew666
I was back in the UK over the holidays & caught the episode of Top Gear where the BMW series 1 was reviewed. Did my eyes deceive me or was the graphic Clarkson used to illustrate BMW marketing policy (BMW badge on a pile of with the legend "You suckers will buy anything") lifted without accreditation from the Sniff Petrol site? We should be told!
sayerbloke
It was indeed.
Boxer2100
Well, if you looked closely, you could see the sniffpetrol.com tag at the bottom of the graphic. But that caught my eye too. You don't think the BBC would lift something without permission, do you?
Drew666
Sniff.. I trust we can expect litigation then?
sayerbloke
I think the guy who writes Sniff Petrol [One Richard Porter] is part of the Top Gear team anyway, isn't he?
Thorburn
I thought that too, too lazy to check the credits tho
Daz
Yes, if you check the credits at the end of Top Gear you will notice that the "Script Editor" is Richard Porter
sayerbloke
I thought I had heard someone else on here mention him as a "Script editor". Thanks for clearing it up, Daz
Sniff Petrol
Oh, hello again. Happy new year to all. Yes, when I'm not doing Sniff Petrol - which is quite a lot of the time, as you can probably guess - I'm the script editor on Top Gear. Clarkson reads SP surprisingly avidly and in this case he thought the spoof BMW ad would make a nice ending to the 1-series test. Obviously, since it was his enjoyment of Sniff Petrol that helped to get me a job on TG, I said he was welcome to use it. So there you go.

Sniff Petrol
You can always write something for Sniff Petrol, Astrosteve. Just type up your idea or story and e-mail it to me through the e-mail link on the website. What could be easier? Actually, come to think of it the obvious answer is 'doing nothing'. Or perhaps 'sitting on the sofa watching daytime telly'. Both of those things would technically be 'easier', but then you wouldn't stand a chance of getting your words on the world's 73rd favourite car news site. Oh yea, and this invitation is open to all, naturally. Obviously I reserve the right not to use submissions. This might be because they're rubbish. Or simply because I lost them. Either way, don't take it personally.
Webbo
I am proud to say that I was responsible for the Schumacher/McDonald's idea some time ago. So it's possible. I say go for it.
