Mollox
Welcome Flibberty (what a name...) Have you considered a Mini Cooper S Works (with lots of options) Sounds like you have a decent budget so you could have fun making something a bit special Or maybe a Hartge Cooper? Chav
an a4 cab. gorgeous car, gorgeous interior and you wont be stressed when caught in traffic as you'll be chilling to your fave cd's with the roof down. 1.8T will give 30+mpg so not too bad for long distance cruising. i do 30,000+ miles per year in my cab. love every mile of it. NewNiceMrMe
I'm biased (don't allfall over with surprise). The 320d SE in current form is a cracking car and the new one will be even better. However, a big plus is that BMW have confirmed it'll still occupy the lowest tax band at 15% - a major plus for a company car driver. The other two cars you mention are both higher percentages. It'd be in your companies interests too because they're likely to benefit from better residuals on a new car (presuming you'll change it within 2, 3, 4 years max). Please don't even look at a Jax X Type diesel - I say that necause I had a 2.5 V6 and my childs sticklebricks stay together longer. You'll need a decent fleet supplier though because my info has it that orders for 320d's of the new shape have already to the point of it being a 5 month waiting list - and thats before any official literature is out. UBM
BUT - it looks hideous...

NewNiceMrMe
Do you think so? Hmm, I don't, I've placed a deposit on a new M3 and I don't even know the full specs yet (doesn't matter cos I can sell it straight on at a premium if I don't like it... ). Yup, I like the new 3 series shape. Even the 5 is growing on me.
UBM
I do like the five series after driving one for a few days in Germany - well, except for the idrive system! The 3-series is not too bad, I was only winding you up! But, the 1-series, is like a blot on the motorwayscape...
NewNiceMrMe
I wouldn't buy a 1 series. Don't hate em, but wouldn't buy one.

NewNiceMrMe
I'd have never guessed....! There are other cars that I hate much more: Rover 75's MG's of any kind MPV's with Turbo badges(?) Vectra's The new Peugeot 407 Volvo S80's Daewoo's And I'm sure a few more I can think of. I prefer the 1-series to all of the above.
flibbertygibbert
I REALLY hate that 407 too!! What about the Fiat Multipla and the Chrysler PT Cruiser - you gotta hate them AND Suzuki's Citroen's Daihatsu's Hyundai's Kia's Proton's I too prefer the 1 series to all of the above..... is that 5 month wait for the new 3 from now or from March 12th???? NewNiceMrMe
I have to say I love the Mini. If I could buy one as a fun car I would. A Cooper S Works just for thrashing around the lanes in. Yep, I love em. In fact I think they're one of the coolest chic cars on the roads still today.

flibbertygibbert
It's just that the mini is the sort of car I imagine Wayne Rooney's bird driving!!! I do think that a Cooper S works would be fun but I kind of have to let on to the bosses that I'm a serious business girl at the same time as thrashing about the roads. Plus from time to time I have clients, eqiupment and half a hockey team to haul about.

Rachel
Ah - the dilemma. Young and well paid female 20 somethings here go for: - MkIV Golf GTi's, - Subaru WRXs (5 door funnily enough), - A3s, - 3 series (typically the bottom of the range), - Alfa 147s, - Mini Cooper (S), and the rare, interesting and some might say discerning ones have started to go for the Honda Integra Type R. It is worth a look if available on your side of the planet. It's not European - but Honda has a reputation with its Type R Integra here that is on par with the WRX or Evo... [/ QUOTE ] I know about the performance of the Cooper SW but the fact is I just don't think the Mini is the car for me and was just trying to justify it with a bit of banter. I seriously do need something a bit bigger. I've been doing this job since uni (just over 2 yrs now) and was given a Golf 1.9 TDi SE for my company car. Before that I drove my dad's car. Lagoo
OK then, give us a tad more to go on then... Does the car have to be brand new? What stuff do you need to lug around (estate car/ hatch back)? What kind of money do you have (If you dont mind us asking)? Any more No Nos like the Mini?
