Drillslinger
How does the ESP read the steering position?? Is there a sensor in the wheel or something else? Also, has anyone had... whatever it is, changed? The ESP on my TQ has started tripping out in parking lots when cold I turn the wheel and give some gas, and the ESP cuts power to nothing It only happens when the car's been sitting for a while, and when I turn the wheel more than about 3/4's Any ideas? Paul
im sure there is some kind of sensor ring behind/ or in the steering wheel to monitor its position.
Drillslinger
That's what I was thinking, but wasn't sure I was hoping someone else had had to get theirs changed out so I could get an idea how much I was looking at The weird thing is, it's only when the temp is down around 3 degrees or colder. The last couple of days (Temp's been right around 7) it's been fine
Mo-S3
I think Tony (S3Bangs?) had his changed so try askng him. As far as i can recall it a small sensor mounted up on the sterring column just before the steering lock itself.

S3Bangs
Mikey Mike... I got the sensor off VAG parts... Cost about £70 for that tiny little fecker. Tried to change it but couldn't as I wasn't keen on opening up the bit below the dash on the drivers side... I had it changed by the dealers for about £60, total £130.. They had wanted to charge me £260 had I just dropped it there and had them change it...
Drillslinger
OK, cool, thanks for the heads-up. I know a guy who can get the trade discount for parts, so that'll help offset it. Does my post up top sound similar to your's? Since I haven't had any fault codes yet, I figure Audi will prolly charge me €80 to say nothings wrong Thanks again
