Smudge
Having stuck over 2k on the car over the Christmas period. Does anyone know how to clock a Golf. In all seriousness, has anyone else had this one yet?
JaffaCake
I just got the light for the first one. Kinda glad, think my brake pads need checking anyway. Thanks for keeping it on topic Jaff.

TP27
Al. Light came on on my R before Xmas so 2nd Service will be in c. 1,200 miles. Spoken to VW and cost should be about £200 ex VAT. I'll keep you posted. TP.
R32North
Not had my 1st yet and I'm on 13.8k. Light say its due in 1800 miles, so that'll be about April then !!!
Smudge
Chri5 / TP27, are they fixed or variable? Costs are different henc the question. Cheers
Jeffers
My R had it 2nd variable service at the start of December - about 19.5k I think. I'm on the SMT plan though, so I didn't have to pay anything there and then. Jeffers
Calm Chris
Smudge, mines on the fixed yearly service schedule,I forgot to include that bit of detail and that I'd got 10% off service due to VW Dealers attempt to make up for previous PPP (p155 poor performance)! TP27
Al. I'm fixed too. First service was at 9,600 miles and it looks like the 2nd Service will be at 19,000 miles. Not worried as she's driving so well these days. Cannot wait for the summer though to put the BBS's back on!! TP.

Riz
I`m on fixed service intervals too. 10k or 12 months, whichever comes first... in my case probably when my car is a year old Hope its not expensive. Remember my first AVS service on my S3 £381.00 Riz
TP27
Riz. Don't worry too much...my first Fixed Service at 9,500 miles was about £110, which was OK by my books. I think it's described as a "Lubrication Service" which I'm glad was for the car only!! TP.
R32Ash
I'm on AVS. My R isn't due for its first service yet (just over 12 months old, 5700 miles on clock), but I got the dealer to throw in free first service when I bought the car anyway. For that reason I'm hoping it's as expensive as possible, thereby saving me as much as possible! Ash.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm definately on Variable as I checked with VW UK and with the service engineer. [ QUOTE ] Do you spank your R a lot?? [/ QUOTE ] I don't spank it, but my journey to work involves a lot of B and minor A roads that are quite often stop start or small stretch driving up through the gears and then back down again. I don't think this helps the service intervals as much as say a motorway journey. Having said that, I do like to drive my R! Jeffers
Smudge
Hmm, sounds interesting, bearing in mind my first variable service didn't happen until 18k, and my second is due around 37k. I wonder if you'd be better off (financially at least) on fixed servicing. Edit by smudge - scrub that, I've just re-read that thread & noticed you're on a service plan. Do you happen to have the invoice VW raised for the service, I'm curious to the cost compared to the first.
