steve184
Hi all. I wonder if anyone can help me! I'm trying to get hold of a review which was published in the May 2004 issue of The Golf Magazine - apparently it was a diesel tuning special or something or other thats all the info i have. I'm looking at buying a tuningbox (www.tuningbox.com) for my audi A3 2.0 TDI (same as golf 2.0 TDI) and apprently there was a review of it in this edition - all help would be greatly appreciated! Thankyou!

UBM
Welcome to TSN. There is some good info on tuning boxes on the two sites www.mrhoot.com and www.dieselchiptuning.com. There are certain things to watch out for : 1. There are analogue and digital boxes - the latter being more expensive but I guess more "safe"; 2. Some will leave error codes on your car when installed or uninstalled. I bought mine through dragon performance tuning and it works by adding an extra box onto the fuel temperature sender. This allows more fuel into the engine and hence creates more power. It takes five mins to add/remove and cost me about 50 notes. It really has increased the fuel efficiency and also the power. I wouldn't be without it now. I know it does not leave errors as I whipped it off before the sudi roadside assistance came to my house and connected me up to the VAGCOM, waited till he had gone and then refitted it. Bear in mind - declare it to your insurers (I had to change to Egg) and also it will invalidate parts of your VW warranty if it is discovered during a service. However, a cheap and relatively safe way of getting more power. If you want any more info, drop me a PM...
