ajh
Any tips on how to get at the o/s sidelight? Manual says refer to stealer, but there cannot be too much to remove!
UBM
Is the headlight unit similar to the A4? If so, I can help....
felixthecat1
This is a B5 isn't it. Again, not sure how much it differs from the B5.5. If not it's a synch. That refer to dealer stuff is a waste of time. Sorry the answer would be nice eh!. It's a twist and pull fitting with the bulb being a push fit in the holder. ajh
Thanks - the problem on the B5 passat is that the headlamp unit is obstructed by the airfilter housing etc on that side, the other side is easy! What I need to know is how to remove the bits in the way!
UBM
On my A4, you need to remove the air intake duct (simply undo two screws and unclip) and then two hex screws on the top of the headlamp unit (which need to be removed). The lisght has two further hex screws further down - loosen, DONT remove and pull headlight unit out. Should give you enough room to work?? Shouldn't be a problem though. It all just push fits together. Anyway it's the weekend, so make the most of the daylight and get an early start. Good luck
ajh
Sorry for delay - managed it ok once I had practised on the (easier to access) nearside one to make sure the holder just pulled out and I was not going to break the surrounding plastic with brute force!! Skins your knuckles, though. Thanks for the advice, folks.
