Is 2.5tdi Toureg underpowered

The missus is considering a 2.5Tdi Treg (possibly sport trim) without air suspension. Should I be excited by this or not. My concern is that the engine is too small for the 2.5 tonnes of car and that without the air suspension it will be missing most of the tricks. I should state that this will probably be a fair weather 4x4 with very occasional light off road action. So what do you recommend? Many thanks!

PS sorry for cross post here but VW fora are quiet today.

Hmm thats what I thought 2.5 tonnes and only 170ish bhp, yes its torquey but still... I have a weekend testdrive from tonight so will let people know what I think but as ever I value the collective brains that is TSNs 169144-ok.gifinput.

Depends what you're after - if it's a safe, dull experience, then fine. What sort of mpg would you expect? and what is the tax %
