Task from a mate

OK, been sent a message on ICQ from a mate. Here it is:

"right, ive decided to get another car, now, gonna start looking seriously next 2/3 weeks, (next pay day)

so far im considering, MR2, Celica, 320i/323i, Pug 206 GTi

can you think of any nice cars that can be bought for 6k or less and have a 0-60 of around 7-8 seconds and that wont arse rape me on insurance? an MR2 would cost me bout 950 quid fully comp, with me wacking up the first payment to 250"

He currently drives a riced Corsa 1.2i. He`s 22 and has been driving for about 2 years I think.

Personally, I`d say if he gets something with RWD he`s gonna end up wrapping it around a tree. I did once try explaining the differences between FWD and RWD but it wasn't really getting anywhere. But anyway, that`s up to him.

OK, that`s the task, anyone want to contribute anything?

lol.gif The first post in speechmarks were his words exactly. I just copy/pasted it from my history file.

He may well go for an MR2... even though I told him I wasn't impressed with the couple that I test drove a while back.

£950 a year insurance for an MR2 is seriously pricey though.

hope that you wouldn't put altezza's, phat exhaust, cone air filter and spinner hubcaps, etc on a 323i if you got one!

Because under Section 4.2.7 © of the Abuse of Cars Act 2004, subsection 5.1.h (Re German Marques) this is classified as a criminal offence and the moderators will carry you off to a dark place and kick the crap out of you.

106 GTi

Near idential twin of the VTS but without the image problem. Goes like stink, way lighter than a Clio, 120 brake is more than enough in this pint pot. You can secure a good one, circa 1998 reading 50k, for around £3,500 so he can save the change for his next car. Goes without saying £6000 would easily cover a decent A3 1.8 T Sport with optional air, although mileage would be higher.
