Rustynuts
Just found some pics of the new Bora. What'dya think?
felixthecat1
It looks huge! That's obviously a top spec job it's front is very 'GTi', bit more bling though. It's nice, much nicer than the old one and even more of a "Golf with a boot", no more messing around from VW with the front lights just for the sake of it. Basically I like it. UBM
Pretty nice - although that nose looks kinda familiar....
xspencex
It looks ok there..seen some other pics of base models and its not so hot in them.. That one has a body kit and bigger alloys..
Rachel
Looks very Toyota Corolla-ish with Lexus (a wholly owned Toyota company) tail lights.

R32North
Looks worlds away from the other 'spy' type pics we saw a while back. The other looked like a Toyota Carina with a bit of makeup on !!! This one actually looks pretty nice - doesn't look like a Golf with a boot at all to me
N3WOB
Pleasantly surprised I have to say, especially that side on shot. Reckon that could sell a lot better than its predecessor

cheechy
Yes that does look very japanese and although it looks nice it has lost its separate identity. I wonder what the European name is going to be? Incidentally they thought the current Bora would sell well. It did more so than any of its predecessors but the fact its not actually called 'Golf' make any hatchback with a boot a questionable buy. This is coming from a guy who had the last Bora for over three years and loved it (Depreciation!!)

cerbera
I quite like it! Agreed this only looks quite tasty due to the alloys and bodykit, but in this guise I think it looks a bit like a Saab 9-3 Aero (side profile) which I actually think looks rather smart! Miles better looking than the Bora Tdi I just sold (sorry Cheechy ). When is this due out ? Sometime this year I'd imagine?
DaddyDub
I think that crease down the side makes it look very BMW-esk, but overlooking that () I like it!
cruiser647
Looking good! As JHT said, very Saab 93 looking! Any V5/ V6/ and V6 Tdi engines available?
felixthecat1
The thing is, the Bora, or Jetta as it's known away from our shores, is very popular. We just like our hatchbacks too much over here. I'm surprised the new Passat isn't available as a hatchback

Mikedavbora
[ QUOTE ] Pleasantly surprised I have to say, especially that side on shot. Reckon that could sell a lot better than its predecessor [/ QUOTE ] Interestingly the Bora outsells the Golf 10:1 in North American markets, whereas here the Golf outsells the Bora 8:1. Its the most successful 'booted' Golf of all time, but I think the new car is more mainstream and will do even better. I personally hate it though because its just another bland looking saloon; reminds me of an Accord and will become a rep favourite I think
shao_khan
Gotta say I wish there had been a R32 version of the Bora - would have been a top car, and suprised it didnt appear in the US.
GTI_Boi
I think the car in the pics looks fantastic, tough I agree with xspencex that the base models won’t be so good. I think that it will be still be called Bora. Don’t know why they never used the name in the US! One stealer (great phrase!) told me that it won’t be coming to the UK until early next year. Don’t think they’ll sell very much. Small saloons just don’t seem to sell, I mean how often do you seen saloon versions of focus, astra, megane etc.
