SneakyMcC
Dropped the 8 off last Sat and got a call Tues to say that summit was damaged in the front suspension (part A4D0 412 391 E please Botang ). I said yes replace it but retain the damaged part. This 1 piece then promptly to into 2 parts cause there’s another bit that goes with it! Read the Billy is going to pay so milk it (for our foreign bothers “Billy” = Billy Bunter, it’s rhyming slang for punter… A punter is a customer…how did I get myself into this? ). They called to say the car was ready, they’d forgotten to save the damaged bits plus they’d neglected to remember that they give 10% discount for older cars like ours… Went to collect the car today and low-and-behold after a bit of muttering and a few friendly emails, the damaged parts were in the boot as requested on my arrival. I was initially sure that the broken part has suffered some maltreatment. There were many customers around so I decided not to make my point there and then, I just asked to see the technician and discussed it quietly. Once he’d said that the piece broke whilst he was trying to get the bolt to come out but the coil spring was in the way and he was guiding the bolt through the coils of the spring I had the answer I needed. That is obviously the twisting force that has caused the damage. I said no more and left, I don’t want to miff these guys off. I have sent another email that says: [ QUOTE ] I found the damaged suspension parts in the boot thank you very much. I have discussed this damage with xxxx. It transpires that the part got broken whilst trying to squeeze the bolt past or through the coil spring. In such circumstances, whilst I have happily paid the bill, I am not convinced that the cost for this bracket, the plate and associated nuts and bolts should be passed to me. If the bolt was seized or something, and then the part was broken trying to free the seized parts, I could see how the cost might be down to me. In this case it seems that it is a disassembly issue. Also, I am not sure if the indentation marks in the part mean it was being levered at the time damage occurred? Please would you be kind enough to look into this further for me and advise. [/ QUOTE ] I hope that this will be enough to have the near £100 credited. This hopefully will save a bit of face. If not I’ll do what I do best and cause “a world of trouble”. I reckon that most of the cars that go into these places are prolly company cars and the stealer would normally charge their phuck-ups to the billies and there’d be nowt said or questioned. When the billy happens to be a private owner, spending his own gelt, who is quite adept at swinging a spanner himself, it is normally very obvious that they’re taking the p!ss. The bill says [ QUOTE ] Shell Helix Synthetic Blend Motor oil 10w-40 [/ QUOTE ] Is that stealer speak for semi synth?
SneakyMcC
This is the whole part (A4D0 412 391 E). The top of the coil spring would sit up in the domed part. See attachment.

SneakyMcC
[ QUOTE ] (part A4D0 412 391 E please Botang ) [/ QUOTE ] Wot no diagram? [ QUOTE ] I'm sorry sneaky but do you actually trust these people [/ QUOTE ] Why do you think I'm always asking you guys to keep me shiny side up, before or after I have some thing done. There's 2 saving graces working with the stealers. 1) you have some chance of redress when you catch the motha’s out and 2) they pay up to put it right (plus the new loan cars). And yes you pay to jiggery for it but I know of know specialists around here and have no time to be rolling around under car these days. In the main, they're the best I've found
SneakyMcC
Can any of you BIG fella's check some part numbers for me? Stealers "Made a mistake" and charged me for the bracket they broke (A4D0 412 391 E) plus the plate on the invoice. Wanna make'em pay for every nut and washer they've charge me for. Is it just the 4 bottom items that they've stiffed me for? (Please see attachment)
