just recently picked up my TDI sport, and realised its a bit noisy, now i have not been in or drove another one so dont know if its normal or that it needs some sort of tuning. gonna go to the garage tmrw to ask, but thought i would get your lots opinions first.

it has done 11k so maybe the oil needs changing, but i doubt that could make the enginge sound louder could it?

Its a fact of life that Turbodiesels get gruffer with age, they also lose performance slightly over time.

When I got my MKIV TDi I was amazed at how smooth it was and how you the predominant sound was the turbo whoosh underlined by a distant rumble. Its still in the family so I get to drive it once in a while and 5 years later its a lot coarser. I've heard that decoking the intercooler is a good way to restore that lost performance. Its a bit of a job, and involves removing the i/c - fiddly as its hard to access - and flushing it with brake cleaner or similar.
