charlie61
My tip is get one with an Audi Warranty or buy something Japanese, you may think you're making a saving buying from daves dodogy motors or private but when you'll be glad you bought with audi warranty
SneakyMcC
Welcome Jools! Starting at the top! Possible options to look out for are: Rear door and rear screen sun blinds Solar roof panel. Sant/Nav(?) Good luck,
pnifa1
Welcome Jools, and happy hunting!! Charlie.... The £4,000 or more he'll save on a like for like car when buying private will buy a good warranty and leave a lot of change for anything thats not covered!, I wouldn't trust a UK Audi dealer to polish my shoes, let alone work on a car like the S8 successfully in the event of a problem!! Just my highly biased 2p!
nikw
I'll second that. When you think you've found one if you're not confident assessing the car yourself get it checked out by the AA/RAC or maybe find an Audi specialist and pay them to look at it. Four grand (for want of a better number) goes a long way outside of an Audi stealership. Actually, I reckon Audi stealers must use a type of bistromathics (try a Google search) to calculate their bills
A8_Tony
£13K? You're looking at pre-facelift, possibly 80-110K miles on the clock. Don't be put off by that though. These cars will run forever if looked after properly, and at 100K are only really just run in. Get as many options as you can: Sat nav+ (was it available for the pre facelift? electric sunblinds rear/rear passenger car phone (full kit) solar sunroof look for extra mods like 20" wheels exhaust Don't discount the Audi dealers, I know that in my experience I would buy from a dealer next time, knowing that I had an Audi warranty. Their warranty is very comprehensive, and covers just about everything you could imagine. Take your time looking too. Don't just buy the first one you see, because you'll regret it. Decide the colour/interior you want, then search for it. These cars are worth travelling for If the car has done over 80k miles, make sure it's had the cambelts done, and if not either walk away or insist that it's done as part of the price (or ask for a substantial discount, it will cost you upto £1500 for this MAJOR service). If you can, also get the seller to have a gearbox oil change done for you, this makes a huge difference I believe (I'm having mine done soon, very soon). Any info you want, you'll find here, welcome to TSN Jools
A8_Tony
Oh and by the way, I know somewhere that's got a nice 2000 4.2 Quattro Sport for £14K (I'm sure they'd haggle) if you're interested. I can go and have a proper look/test drive if you need me too
