leno
Not been here for a while, thought I'd check back. Anyhow, mines up for it's first service very soon, do I go for the service at Lindvale ( who tell me that it shouldn't cost no more than £323) or should I take a trip down to AMD who are a truck load cheaper ( will probably go for the stage 2 shortly after). Has anyone else gone this route ???
Gti_Fly
£323!! Jesus it's only an oil change and quick check over. Shouldnt cost no more than £
leno
My thoughts exactly.. Still not sure what way to go.
Gti_Fly
Warrenty wise, you'll need to take it to a place that uses VW genuine parts for the warrenty to stay intact. Therefore you dont need to take it to a VW garage. AMD would be a good choice IMO

Calm Chris
2nd year service was £320 4 weeks ago, 1st year was £150 and is very, very basic (yep- Oil change and eye ball- look only job). Tell them that he needs to check VW rate book for 1st service, which seems to vary a bit (but not by 130%). Remember that when you sell (if ever!) the car a service stamp from a VW approved garage will be the minimum service standard a buyer would expect. A regular AMD service stamp every service for 3 years would mark you down as a racer type who's thrashed the feck out of the car for the 3 years of ownership. Yeh, we know that AMD will service the car far better that VW garage might, but then the standard for a £22k R32 will be a FSH via VW !!
leno
It was Lindvale Romford..
KEVINP
The same as me ! Have you had the 6463 update yet and if so did you use Romford ?
leno
No 6463, tell me in less than 50 words what that is ( forgive my ignorance ) planning on the stage 2. I didn't buy mine from romford, got mine at Wayside in Letchworth ( it was the only place i could lay my grubby little mits on one....

KEVINP
It is an ecu update that increases the power of the R32. Those that have had it installed say the car performs much better. It aparently cures hesitation. Read the thread at the top of the R32 forum.

leno
Not seen another blue 5 dr round here ( brentwood ), There's a silver 3dr down the road and I've seen a blackun in Mountnessing. How do you find Lindvale, the few occasions I've had to speak to them they just appear to be complete idiots...
KEVINP
The parts department are not so bad. Ordered some mats etc for the wife's lupo. The salesman I bought the R32 form was fine but left last year. Not sure about the servicing department though. My father had his polo serviced there and they did a good job on that but again expensive. when you enter the dealers they have the costs of the services displayed on the wall. not sure if the R32 is there or just a generic golf. Also ask them if they have a "master tec" and check with them about the 6463.
hotdog
Try Lindvale Chelmsford. They are far more on the ball. And before you lot ask, no I don't work for them, I've just had good service from them, which these days is nothing short of a minor miracle! JaffaCake
In the old days you would have a 12month/10k service book whichever is sooner. Servicing was reasonably priced. Generally it went from a 10k oil change, to a 20k full service, to a 30k oil change and so on. Now we have the variable servicing I'm wondering whether this 20k interval service is actually the equiv of a full service each time hence the £350 price tag. I'll see when mine is serviced next week I guess. Make sense?
