Loonstar
ok - as you all know now - I bought an A8 last week. It only came with one key. I spotted some articles that show you how to recode a key if you can get one....which I have done. Got one on Ebay for £25. Now, I just went to the dealer and asked to buy a blank key, they refused to sell me one and said that it would cost £47 for a new metal bit and for it to be coded. They would also need a copy of my V5, a passport and the VIN details. What I need to know is, where can I buy a blank metal bit - it's the flippy one? My local locksmith didn't have any and couldn't get them. Ta in advance. Jamie
Botang
Did you buy the car from a trader? If so they have a responsibility to supply two keys unless they make you aware in advance that they only have one key, if so just make them pay Audi's bill. Its common practice in the motor trade, and the law is on your side. If this is the case give the trader the option to sort it otherwise get in contact with trading standards. Its not being nasty its just part of trading that they have to supply two keys unless specified before the deal.
