DMS Automotive E46 M3 remap

In case anyone is interested I've made an enquiry about the above and hopefully will be have more info for people tomorrow, including the price that I haven't received yet!

DMS claim an increase of 29bhp and earlier availability of peak power. Peak drops to 6400 revs and power gain after that is said to "eclipse normal M3 performance".

I have asked them to detail what the latter statement means by way of providing statistics before and after - because I won't bother if it merely drops the peak power revs availability (after all, part of the fun is the driving hard!).

I've also asked about warranty implications and whether or not the change is easily reversible (in the event of problem - which I doubt it is, but its a question I have to ask!).

I'll let you know.

The prospect of having a Conv (i.e. couldn't get a CSL conv before Chris_P says! wink.gif) M3 with what would amount to 372 bhp is very appealing - particularly as that would mean the addition of the SS exhaust would then up it to about 382-385 bhp.

The exhaust has recently hit a slight problem in that the wife doesn't want to sound too loud (!). I made the mistake of playing her a few .wmv files from on here and she thought it sounded like a "boy racer". So I've had to put that on the back burner until I can convince her otherwise.

Has anyone dealt with DMS? Thoughts on them and this subject?

The Phantom has presence and offers a pride of ownership. The Maybach is a far better car inside and has an engine that allows it to be just as quick as your car!

I was driving a Phantom on the weekend, it is lovely, a whole different driving style to anything else (except a Rolls) you just plod along, brake gently and run over anything that gets in your way grin.gif

If I was to choose, the Maybach hands down. I’d get it 2 tone black and white, fab. Neither of them is elegant, like the old big cars used to be of the 40's, but in a way they are the closest things to it.

I was reading a ton of stuff about M3 remaps on one of the other forums last night - I take it you've been reading up on AmD/DMS etc?

General consensus is that 20BHP is achievable by remap alone - 30 may be pushing it a tad with out cats/exhaust.

I'd like to see some RR print outs though.

Cheers, and look forward to more info,

Ben

This really isn't a good update.

I rang DMS today to enquire about the re-map, having asked for more information yesterday and having filled in an online enquiry form via their website.

Not only have they not rang me back, they have not responded to my request via their website.

I am not impressed. NONO3.GIF

As woppum states, I can recommend DMS very highly. I do not have any first hand experience with them on M3s though. They are excellent getting power from forced induction engines, but on normally aspirated stuff it may be difficult especially as the M3 is tuned very highly be BMW already.

DMS will explain where the benefits are and they are genuinely intent on giving a good customer service.

She'll come round to it, just have it done. My missus went a bit ape over me having the AC system fitted. But she soon warmed to it, it sounds glorious. Love dropping the gears going through the Blackwall Tunnel (no cameras, Rotherhithe has loads), sounds grrrrrreaaaaaattttttt!!

There's a guy in the next town who drives an M3 who has comented a few times, sis the car has lost its character. TOSSER!!!!

I have looked at the ACS system but the thing that puts me off is the combined outlets of the back box - I just think it takes away from the car.

I have seen one of the road too, on a Carbob Black M3 and it just, well, its not me. The SS system is my favoured option but I'm wondering if I can convince her if I drop the middle section and just go for the backbox.

There must be a major reduction in volume if I do that, but still and increase over the OEM box.

To be honest, I dont favour the design of the AC system, but at the time it was affordable and of course under warranty with BMW. Plus they were able to remove my old one and fit the new one. The SS system would have been my first choice, but like yourself, I couldn't give my money to anyone.

A friend of mine has a Porsche service centre and even he was reluctant to fit it.

Am still toying with the idea of the SS system, just concerned over warranty issues.

Out of curiosity how much was the whole deal including the X pipes?
