carlos50
Hi guys. I have been informed by my local window tinting specialist that he can only tint my S8 with a light tint due to the double glazing the 8 has. I was hoping to get a medium tint done ( i know its illegal but not bothered ).Can anybody advise me if this is true.My car is black so i fancied the darker look and besides is there really much point in paying £300 for a light tint. Ska
I can only imagine it is; since the legal mumbo jumbo means anything less than 35% visual light transmission is illegal on the front two windows b4 the B pillar. Normal windows on A8/S8 are tinted by the manufacturer anyway so adding a tint film to it makes it more worse... more so with double glazing. But rear of the B pillar and you can go as dark as you want as the police treat your car as a van. Where are you based? Interesting that you were quoted £300 others here have been quoted a hell of lot more for this car... is that for the whole car including drivers and passenger front windows and rear windscreen? It looks obvious that they wont be removing the windows. Please let me know as I'm trying to get mine done but no one will do the front windows and I only want a silght light smoke tint. carlos50
I am based in the North East of England. The company said they would do the fronts if i sign a disclaimer taking full liability if i am caught. The price was £250 + Vat but no they wouldnt remove the windows unless they had a problem with the door panels which they will take off and replace the clips on re application. This is a common type of quote up here. Maybe i will go with the light tint and see how it looks.Dont want limo effect under any circumstances.Try telling your local fitter that you will sign the disclaimer.Worth a shot. Botang
Ronald the law in the UK says that we are only allowed to tint the rear window and the rear side windows. We are allowed to tint the front ones but only to a low level, which is prettm much the same as manufacturers have already done. The law in your country maybe different but at the moment the Police here are quite hot on this issue.
ronalds8
we have the same laws and stuff but such cars are usually used by mobs here so police don't bother
