A4 glove box DVD ?

I have an 04 A4 with CD based Navi and no tv tuner, with a boot mounted Alpine CD Changer. The original CD Changer (from when I had the concert head unit) was in the glove box so now i have a DIN size slot in my glove box and would love to fit a dvd player in there.

I assume i would need a lead (such as a dietz ?) and the dvd unit would need to have a remote control with seperate remote eye.

Has anyone fitted a DIN size DVD player in the A4 glove box ? any recommendations of a nice unit ? Im in the uk so the unit needs to be available over here.

Ideally the DVD player would play MP3/CD/DVD/etc and if it had a TV tuner too then that would be great !

This guy has written some good stuff on how to do it and has used a Blaupunkt ME3. However I think he used a Std glovebox not one of the factory fitted cd changer type ones.

Would be interested to know what you end up getting.

How have you mounted the changer in the boot by the way?

Regards

There aren't many units that play DVD and have a built in TV tuner in the size of a single DIN, but i understand that Pioneer do - I can't quite remember the model but I can dig it out if you want?

You really do need the TV module to accept an image source from the DVD unit.

Thanks for the replies -

Crusader - the cd changer is mounted to the "roof"of the boot, right in the center.

Sparky - i thought you could use the deitz leads if you didn't have the tv tuner ? a din unit with TV would be great, but TV is not essential so a DVD/MP3/CD unit would be ok if i could find one that suits the glove box din hole wink.gif

on the subject of din dvd players get a unit that has a cover over the cd/dvd slot as to help stop condensation building up more so in this weather had a in dash din/dvd player in my last car with a drop down screen for rear passengers and it did not read the disks till it warmed up a little to dry of the condensation i was told its common.

ill be doing a nother install of rear headrest /tv,s and dvd player in the glove box like urself linking it with the sat nav screen once the wife lets me spend the money frown.gif the down side to being a house husband

I looked at the ME3 but it is not DIN size, and I really need on that is to fit in the slot.

Sounds like a good idea to have one with a cover over the loading slot too as suggested by dadwhitey.

Oh, i have the CD based Sat Nav to answer Allens question.
