grahamb
Is it true you A8 owners have to pay heaps to get the car serviced, due to its complexity? I heard there are specially trained A8 technicians who only work on 8's. Whats the average costs for a service and cam belt change?

SneakyMcC
As with all dealer servicing, the basic costs are ok. Average A8 service is prolly £350. The problem is that the service advisor's are on a % and their job is to sell you work. If you look at the package they offer it as not as bad as it may fist seem. You get a looan car of a quality that wood cost you several hundred pounds a week. The real problems start at the hourly rates they charge. Some Stealers offer 10% of parts and lab to encourage folk with old cars like me. but 10% off £98 per hour (in vat) don’t amount to a hill of beans do it All work can be bid when it come to pricing jobs as long as you don’t get trailered there and you have time to wait for the work. If you need it quick you have nowt to bargin with, if your sh!t arrives on a on a flat-bed truck you're are phucked! No discount, no loan car (captive audience ) I have written to Audi UK to ask for clarification about the A8 Master technicians. Because as soon as you mention maintenance and 8 in the same sentence, you get “our a8 technician Ron is blah blah” from the service advisor. You wait till you get the bill and it says that the technician that worked on your car was Dave !!! Well I have had two lots of stuff broken by dealers, I am yet to check who did the first damage, but the last lot broken was broken by Dave! And yes it was an ally component that he broke 80k service
