mjpleusch
I have recently installed a Sony T69 autochanger to the boot of an A6 using the preinstalled leads and a conversion adapter. Everything is fine until I turn the engine on and then the hissing and alternator whine overtake any enjoyment from the unit. I have seen a numeber of posts in hear and when talking to the original supplier, I understand that some further earthing would need to be installed. Is this correct and if so where would I add the earthing. Any help would be much appreciated as I have stopped using it within 5 days of installing it. yen77
This is a common problem with custom installs whereby the power cable to amps and the signal leads from the head unit run side by side. Any power surge ie alternator noise, etc gets picked up by the leads. In the past, I always installed the audio leads on the opposite side of the car as the power cable. Strange how you've used the preinstalled leads and this is showing up. Perhaps the conversion adaptor is the cause of the problem. I can't offer any help, but can only offer the above explanation for it. Perhaps an interference filter, or maybe re-check the wiring for the conversion adapter and try to isolate it from power cables.
