Maranello, Thursday. Ferrari boss Jean Todt, has today announced that the Scuderia plan to form their own breakaway F1 championship series from 2007. The shock news comes as Ferrari have decided it is just not worth the effort and expense of travelling the globe to thrash the other teams, when they may as well hold their own series at home, with races alternating between the Mugello and Fiorano test tracks. ‘The race results would still be the same but simply with less cars competing’ said the diminutive Frenchman.

Todt continued, ‘Frankly, it has become a bit embarrassing, beating the others week in week out, its like shooting fish in a barrel, so we feel its time to let them do their own thing and we’ll run our own two car championship’. He added ‘Bernie Ecclestone will look after the TV rights and his plan is for the others to merge with the new GP2 series to keep them busy’

Ferrari denied that they were ‘betraying’ the others although they did offer some consolation in that they may be invited to participate on an occasional basis. Ron Dennis, having self combusted, was not available for comment but the general consensus of the other team bosses seemed to be one of relief.

Current Ferrari stars Michael Schumacher and lickspittle Rubens Barrichello will continue to spearhead the teams assault on the title, while test donkey Luca Badoer may be allowed a third car entry as and when any new bits need testing..

Happy weekend to you all !
