Just seen this article on the BBC website HERE .

Interesting, brings out all sorts of ideas, How about we download vehicle updates through our own computers?

Or how about we pay for performance.. One swipe of your visa card gives you a boost for 2 hours.?

Say you have a problem with your car but the dealer won't be able to see it for 2 weeks, How about you plug it into your home computer download the DATA needed and e-mail the dealer so if its a simple software problem they can e-mail you back the up-dated and correcting data..

Seems like a good Idea to me seeing as most of car problems today are computer related glitches and are fixed using computers...

I think there are reasons the Manufactures won't like this but at th end of the day they have problems satisfying customers and they need to create a way of improving quality of service.. This maybe one way.. In the future hopefully there will be a way of improving digital security and copys won't be easily made... But Hackers are pretty good at what they do si its a constant battle..

I belive in the end technology will overcome profit requirements.. The technology exists today but hasn't been fully applied...it cann't be long now til we have fully interactive cars..How about setting your suspension on your home computer..fiddling with the turbo settings etc... (all within guidelines of course) I'm excited about this prospect..

grin.gif If I remember correctly the Macca F1 has a cable you plug into a phone line - the car can then dial into HQ download all sorts of data and accept ECU changes over the phone 169144-ok.gif

Thats right it does, so the technology exists..so in the future why should we visit a dealer for something that can be done at home.. considering most of the electronic glitches are done under warrenty surely the manufactures would like the fact that problems can be dealt with quickly..
